Programming and reprogramming the brain
ID
826067
Dates
03 Apr 2017 - 04 Apr 2017
Location
Munich, Germany
Abstract
The brain is the most complex and fascinating organ of the body. Recent advances have elucidated the rules that establish and maintain cellular diversity in the central nervous system and highlighted unprecedented plasticity in the capacity of brain cells to reprogram their identity. Key progress in stem cell biology and directed differentiation has provided new experimental models to inform mechanistic understanding of human brain development and pathology. This meeting will cover the emerging field of brain development, reprogramming and modeling with a focus on new genome wide tools to understand biological processes with single-cell resolution.

EMBO|EMBL Symposium: Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration
ID
809659
Dates
14 Jun 2017 - 17 Jun 2017
Location
Heidelberg, Germany
Abstract
This symposium will focus on the molecular basis of major neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, with a strong emphasis on mechanism based drug development. The meeting will cover the various molecular mechanisms linked to these diseases, including RNA biology, nuclear transport, protein processing, protein aggregation and protein folding. The symposium will also address the genetic components underlying neurodegeneration and the involvement of innate immune responses, discuss disease biomarkers and therapeutic options, as well as using animal models for studying neurodegenerative disease.

871593
Dates
05 Jul 2017 - 07 Jul 2017
Location
Frankfurt, Germany
Abstract
On behalf of Pulsus Group, we are esteemed to invite you to join 4th International Conference on Neurodegenerative disorders and Stroke which will be held from July 05-07, 2017 at Frankfurt, Germany.Brain Stroke 2017 is an annual meeting of Neuroscience organizations as well as Stroke committees to discuss the future of the Neurological disorders in terms of collaboration, structures and organizational development. Brain stroke is a general term that describes a group of symptoms-such as Ischemic stroke, heart attack, loss of memory, judgment, language, complex motor skills, and other intellectual function-caused by the permanent damage or death of the brain's nerve cells, or neurons.Brain stroke, including Ischemic strokes, Hemorrhagic strokes, and Transient ischemic attacks is one of the biggest global public health challenges facing our generation.

1st HBP Curriculum workshop series - Intellectual property rights, translation and exploitation of research: Entrepreneurship in Neuroscience
ID
894067
Dates
17 Jul 2017 - 19 Jul 2017
Location
Leimen, Germany
Abstract
This “hackathon” style workshop completes and complements the online course on Intellectual Property Rights, Translation and Exploitation of Research. Students will work in small groups around joint applied research ideas in Neuroscience that the students will offer and conceive by themselves. The participants will study how to advance their ideas from the lab to market, understand the needs, the target population, patentability options and how to build a business model. Finally they will present their ideas to industry and academy experts. The workshop is a hands on unique experience of diving into the entrepreneurial world, learning how to advance the science into the next step...
