ANT2 — Analytic Number Theory
ID
831798
Termin
17. Jan 2017 - 26. Mai 2017
Ort
Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Berkeley, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung
Analytic number theory, and its applications and interactions, are currently experiencing intensive progress, in sometimes unexpected directions. In recent years, many important classical questions have seen spectacular advances based on new techniques; conversely, methods developed in analytic number theory have led to the solution of striking problems in other fields. This program will not only give the leading researchers in the area further opportunities to work together, but more importantly give young people the occasion to learn about these topics, and to give them the tools to achieve the next breakthroughs.

24. Apr 2017 - 01. Mai 2017
Ort
Centre de recherches mathématiques, Universit, Kanada
Zusammenfassung
School: The school will consist of mini-courses on topics issued from combinatorics of words, symbolic dynamics, and on some of the algebraic and number theoretic background that will be useful for participants of the Workshop Bridges between Automatic Sequences and Algebra and Number Theory. Workshop: The theory of finite-state automata and automatic sequences has recently seen numerous applications to algebra and number theory. This is evidenced by the work of Derksen and Masser addressing solutions to S-unit equations in positive characteristic, work on transcendence and irrationality exponents of Mahler functions and automatic real numbers done by many: Adamczewski, Bugeaud, Bell, Cassaigne, Coons, Zudilin, and others over the past ten years.

AIM Workshop: Nonstandard Methods in Combinatorial Number Theory
ID
832162
Termin
14. Aug 2017 - 18. Aug 2017
Ort
American Institute of Mathematics, San Jose, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung
This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, hopes to further develop the use of nonstandard methods in combinatorial number theory and Ramsey theory. For example, recently nonstandard methods have proven useful in problems about configurations of sumsets in sets of positive density as well as partition regularity of equations. Our aim is to continue to explore these and other directions leading to a greater understanding of the role that nonstandard methods could play in this area of combinatorics.

Termin
11. Sep 2017 - 15. Sep 2017
Ort
Hammamet, Tunesien
Zusammenfassung
This Mathematical School is dedicated to Master Degree students to deepen and enrich their mathematical training and to PhD students who already are making a thesis in the field of algebraic geometry or who need to either discover or complement their mathematical training in this field. Two mini-courses in algebraic geometry will be presented during 5 days by Ms. Marie-Françoise ROY and Ms. Elise LORENZO GARCIA (15 hours). The courses include a significant proportion of time devoted to background and introductory material. We want this school to offer an exciting opportunity for students and teachers to meet, exchange ideas, discuss and evolve. Mini-projetcts will be proposed. 14 conferences will be given. Ph.D. Students can present their posters. The aim is to encourage, energize and motivate mathematical research in general and in this area in particular.
