The European Optical Society Annual Meeting, EOSAM, is a major international scientific conference and exhibition covering all aspects of optics and photonics. EOSAM 2024 is organized by The European Optical Society, EOS, in close collaboration with the Italian Society for Optics and Photonics, SIOF, the Italian branch of EOS. EOSAM covers all aspects of optics and photonics within several topical meetings and sessions. It is attended annually by over 500 top researchers, key leaders, students, and industry experts from over 30 different countries all over the world. EOSAM is a great platform for presenting the most recent research results, connecting and catching up, as well as bridging the gap between research, education, and industry. Each year EOSAM moves into different optics and photonics hubs better serving the local communities and at each time creating a unique EOSAM experience for the attendees. EOSAM has been organized since 2006 in France, Scotland, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Portugal.

Das Modul Optiktechnologie ist Bestandteil der Weiterbildung Optik, die von der Jenaer Akademie Lebenslanges Lernen JenALL e. V. in Kooperation mit der Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena durchgeführt wird.

Die Entwicklung optischer Technologien in der heutigen Zeit ist stark geprägt vom Einsatz neuartiger optischer Bauelemente. Diese setzen Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der zur Verfügung stehenden optischen Materialien voraus. Die Weiterbildungsveranstaltung umfasst die Darstellung der verschiedenen Werkstoffe und den Komplex der Materialbearbeitung. Zur Vertiefung der dreitägigen theoretischen Ausbildung kann optional am 19.09.2024 ein ergänzendes Praktikum in den Laboren der EAH absolviert werden. Hierfür stehen verschiedene Versuche zur Auswahl.

Das Modul Optik für Einsteiger ist Bestandteil der Weiterbildung Optik, die von der Jenaer Akademie Lebenslanges Lernen JenALL e. V. in Kooperation mit der Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena durchgeführt wird.

In der Veranstaltung werden die allgemeinen Grundlagen und Grundgesetze der Optik dargestellt. Des Weiteren erhalten die Kursteilnehmer einen Überblick über optische Werkstoffe und optische Bauelemente sowie einführende Kenntnisse zu optischen Geräten.

Das Seminar richtet sich an Ingenieure, Techniker, Projektmanager, Facheinkäufer und Wissenschaftler sowie Führungskräfte, die sich in der Licht- und Displaymesstechnik für verschiedene Anwendungsgebiete weiterqualifizieren möchten.

Das Weiterbildungsseminar vermittelt von den Grundlagen bis hin zum Profi-Wissen Kompetenzen zur Charakterisierung optischer Elemente. Die Teilnehmenden lernen in Theorie und Praxis, optische Eigenschaften von Lichtquellen, Displays und optischen Elementen zu messen, zu verstehen und zu interpretieren.

This will be the first time that the entire ICO World Congress will be held in Africa, in total resonance with the leitmotifs of the ICO, to facilitate the dissemination of science, technology and education in all regions of the world. ICO-26 is co-organized by the West African Territorial Representation, Laser, Atomic Molecular, and Optical Sciences Network (LAM) and the French Territorial Representation (SFO). We expect of course a large number of participants, including an exhibit that will showcase photonics industry. Even more important for this first issue, a particular attention will be paid to ensure a broad African participation, and we are working especially to make the congress accessible to young PhDs and researchers of as many as possible African countries. To be clear our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and as scientifically excellent as usual, and bring to Dakar with your help the international optic and photonic community to exchange with Africans colleagues.

The latest research on materials and thin films used with high-power, high-energy lasers

Optical design is a key technology for innovations in medical and biotechnology, automotive applications, industrial manufacturing, mechanical engineering, space technology, lithography and consumer applications. Optical systems become more and more complex with increased functionality and further specific optimization. This trend results in a growing demand for the qualification and competence of optical designers. In addition to the basic seminar „Optische Systeme: Design und Simulation“, Photonics BW offers the seminar „Advanced Lens Design“ for extending and deepening the knowledge in lens design.

The seminar combines theoretical knowledge about optical design for imaging systems with the transfer into practical solutions. The participants improve their knowledge and will be qualified for a broad range of challenging applications in lens design. Intensive coaching and assistance by the lecturing team.

Since 2008, OPSS has been promoting Optics and Photonics in Singapore through interaction between academia and industry, and actively participating in regional conferences and exhibitions. In recent years, OPSS has spearheaded the establishment of societies in various ASEAN countries, creating a dynamic community in the field. The International Conference on Optical and Photonic Engineering (icOPEN) stands as a testament to our commitment to this field. Since its inception in 2011, icOPEN has steadily grown to become a prominent fixture in the Optical and Photonic Engineering calendar. Traditionally alternating between Singapore and China, it has evolved to include our ASEAN neighbours, with Thailand hosting the event in 2019.

The control of quantum many-body states of matter in solid-state systems with short strong classical laser pulses has seen a surge in the past decade. Time-resolved experiments on solid-state systems have made rapid strides in inducing or enhancing correlated states of electrons, ranging from superconducting, magnetic, and correlated insulating phases to topological states of matter. The goal of this conference is to bring together leading researchers from different backgrounds – theory and experiment, solid state, and quantum optics – to review recent advances and to address promising new directions including the extensions of quantum optical techniques and strong cavity fields to the materials realm, providing a different route to the preparation, manipulation, and interrogation of correlated electron phases.
