American Geophysical Union

Frontiers in Hydrology meeting advances hydrology and related global convergent science issues and helps address and expose local and regional issues worldwide. Leveraging collaborations between co-sponsors, the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and CUAHSI (Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc.), the meeting includes engineering, urban planning, social science, and affiliated science communities.

WaterSciCon advances hydrology and related global convergent science issues and helps address and expose local and regional issues worldwide. The meeting will bring together a community of water-focused researchers, educators, practitioners, engineers, and policymakers spanning academic, agency, public, and private sectors to share tools and approaches, build new collaborations, and synthesize our understanding of people, planet, and water science.

The theme of the meeting is Catalyzing Collaboration.

International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE)

In July, 2024, the Chair of Physical Geography is proud to host the meeting of the International Commission of Continental Erosion (ICCE) of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). The topic will be "Sensitivity of erosion and sediment transport to recent climate change". We welcome contributions on a wide range of environments, processes, and scales. The scope includes the reconstruction and measurement of past and present-day processes, the attribution of observed changes to changes in hydrometeorological forcing, and also modelling studies on future developments according to climate projections.

The Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) in collaboration with the Canadian National Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH-CNC)

The theme for GeoMontréal 2024 is Resilient geosciences for future generations and will feature technical sessions on subjects of broad interest in the geotechnical and hydrogeological fields. In addition to the technical program and plenary sessions, the conference will include a complement of distinguished keynote speakers, high calibre short courses, technical tours, and social events.

We are pleased to announce that the 8th International Electronic Conference on Water Sciences (ECWS-8) is back. The conference is organized by the MDPI journal Water (ISSN: 2073-4441, Impact Factor: 3.4) and will take place virtually on 14–16 Oct 2024, Central European Summer Time. The conference is free to participate in. ECWS-8 invites researchers from academia, as well as water practitioners, to contribute original findings, novel ideas, scientific concepts and new technologies and experiences to deal with water resource management, policies and governance, with a special focus on sustainability, resilience, uncertainty, risk and adaptation.

This forum addresses the global, industry-wide challenge of reservoir monitoring for optimizing resource management. It will bring together leaders, practitioners, and students from industry and academics involved in surveillance monitoring to showcase current and future technology, discuss value propositions, and review instructive case studies.

The 2 ½-day event emphasizes current acquisition, processing, reservoir property prediction and cycle time reduction, lessons learned, as well as new applications including carbon sequestration. This multi-disciplinary forum fosters learning and understanding of time lapse methods to help companies justify and adapt 4D programs and thrive in the new digital world and energy transition.

The discussions will centre around wintertime and cold region atmospheric chemistry and its impacts on health, geochemical cycles, and climate. Central to this discussion are aspects that make gas- and multiphase atmospheric science in cold environments unique, including but not limited to the presence of ice clouds, snow, and sea ice.
