Sensory Systems: Interoception and Exteroception
18. Jan 2027 - 21. Jan 2027 • Keystone, Colorado, Vereinigte Staaten
Veranstalter:
Keystone Symposia
Zusammenfassung:
Sensory Systems: Interoception and Exteroception brings together leaders across neuroscience, physiology, and systems biology to explore how organisms sense, integrate, and respond to both the external world and internal bodily states. From exteroceptive senses such as touch, taste, olfaction, vision, and hearing to rapidly advancing insights into interoception, this meeting highlights how sensory systems shape perception, behavior, homeostasis, and disease. The program features an emphasis on interoception – how signals from organs such as the gut, heart, and lungs are detected, encoded, and interpreted by the nervous system – revealing new frameworks for understanding behavioral and physiological responses. Sessions also explore somatosensation, chemosensation, mechanosensation, and multisensory integration, linking foundational mechanisms to organism-level outcomes. This meeting will be held jointly with Neurobiology of Appetite Control.

Neurobiology of Appetite Control
18. Jan 2027 - 21. Jan 2027 • Keystone, Colorado, Vereinigte Staaten
Veranstalter:
Keystone Symposia
Zusammenfassung:
The primary goal of the “Neuronal Control of Appetite” meeting is to catalyze transformative progress in deciphering the neural mechanisms that govern appetite, with a focus on driving innovative research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, translational insight, and industrial innovation. In addition to challenging entrenched models of homeostatic control by highlighting emerging evidence of dynamic, context-dependent neural modulation, the meeting will spotlight the growing role of biotechnology and pharmaceutical initiatives aimed at developing novel diagnostics, therapeutics, and digital tools to combat obesity and metabolic disorders. This meeting is deliberately designed to convene a diverse array of participants, including systems and behavioral neuroscientists, endocrinologists, computational modelers, clinical researchers, biotech innovators, and industry leaders. By bridging traditionally siloed domains — such as neural circuit mapping, metabolic disease modeling, and therapeutic discovery — the meeting will encourage the synthesis of ideas, resources, and techniques across fields. This meeting will be held jointly with Sensory Systems: Interoception and Exteroception.

Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Mechanisms and Therapeutics
19. Jan 2027 - 22. Jan 2027 • Breckenridge, Colorado, Vereinigte Staaten
Veranstalter:
Keystone Symposia
Zusammenfassung:
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), including autism, intellectual disability, and epilepsy, arise from disruptions during brain development and pose major challenges to public health. Although advances in genetics have identified hundreds of causal genetic risk factors, identifying convergent mechanisms underlying their pathobiology remains a challenge, which hinders the development of personalized therapies. This meeting addresses the critical gap between emerging insights into causal factors, neurodevelopment, and therapeutic innovation by uniting experts across basic and translational neuroscience. This conference will foster new collaborations between investigators in genetics, functional genomics, developmental neurobiology, and industry. Specific aims include showcasing breakthroughs in single-cell genomics, genome perturbation technologies, gene-environment interactions, and novel therapeutic strategies such as gene replacement therapies and ASOs. Unlike existing meetings that focus separately on neurodevelopment, stem cell models, or therapeutic pipelines, this conference uniquely fuses mechanistic understanding of genetic and environmental causes with translational application. This meeting will be held jointly with Neural Plasticity and Recovery after Traumatic CNS Injury & Stroke.

Neural Plasticity and Recovery after Traumatic CNS Injury & Stroke
19. Jan 2027 - 22. Jan 2027 • Breckenridge, Colorado, Vereinigte Staaten
Veranstalter:
Keystone Symposia
Zusammenfassung:
Stroke and traumatic injury are common neurologic disorders and the leading causes for adult-onset disability. Development of therapeutics to improve recovery has been hindered due to a limited understanding of how circuits within the central nervous system (CNS) are affected by injury. Technological advances have enabled interrogation of the CNS with unprecedented resolution. These are being applied to stroke and trauma survivors and to animal models, allowing for a critical re-appraisal of proposed mechanisms of recovery. This knowledge is crucially important as neuromodulation therapies are available for clinical trials, but when and how to apply these to patients are not well understood. This conference will bring together scientists working across species, using diverse approaches, to understand the mechanisms underlying dysfunction and recovery after stroke or injury to the brain or spinal cord. This conference will be unique in its focus on basic and translational science of CNS recovery that brings together researchers working across many disease models and injury types. This meeting will be held jointly with Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Mechanisms and Therapeutics.
