NHC2022 — 31st Nordic Hydrological Conference
15 aou 2022 - 18 aou 2022 • Tallinn University, Tallinn, Estonie
Résumé:
After every two years, the Nordic Hydrological Conference (NHC) takes place in a different member country of the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF). In August 2022 we are waiting you to Tallinn, Estonia. NHC2022 main topic will be “Hydrology and Water-related Ecosystems”. It will offer a great opportunity to discuss not only strictly hydrological questions but also about water as the basis of our whole existence and warrant for human well-being. Functioning water cycle and clean water are one of the most important ecosystem services we have. The NHC2022 will be an excellent venue for dissemination of scientific results and practical applications of hydrological research. NHC2022 will also celebrate two special events - the 50th Year Anniversary of the Nordic Association for Hydrology and 100 Years of Hydrological Monitoring in Estonia.

LuWQ2022 — 5th International Interdisciplinary Conference on LAND USE and WATER QUALITY: Agriculture and the Environment
12 sep 2022 - 15 sep 2022 • Maastricht, Pays-Bas
Organisateur:
RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, the Netherlands (principle organiser); Aarhus University, Denmark; Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS); and Umweltbundesamt (UBA), Germany
Résumé:
LuWQ2022 is an interdisciplinary conference on the cutting edge of science, management and policy to minimise effects of agriculture and land use changes on the quality of groundwater and surface waters. The conference aims to discuss the entire ’policy cycle’ to enable enhancing the quality of the water environment, which includes problem recognition, formulation of technical options, policy formulation, interaction between policy makers and stakeholders (i.e. pressure groups), policy implementation, monitoring and research. The conference also aims to facilitate networking opportunities and to intensify contacts (a) between soil/water related scientists, agro-related scientists, social scientists, ecological scientists and economists, and (b) between scientists, water managers and policy makers. To give you a feeling for the essence of Land Use and Water Quality (LuWQ) conferences… The key strength of the conference is twofold. On the one side, LuWQ has a well-defined narrow focus on ‘agriculture and water quality’. On the other side, the conference is broadly oriented with regard to the various professional disciplines related to the conference topics. Based on the experience from previous Land Use and Water Quality conferences, it is just the diversity in professional background of participants which results in a multi-faceted conference programme. Consequently, LUWQ offers sessions on a broad variety of topics, all of them however dedicated exclusively to agriculture and water quality. In this sense, the conference topics range – to illustrate by a few randomly chosen examples – from scientific research on denitrification and travel time, …, challenges in monitoring and modelling at different scale (parcels, field, region), …, practice-oriented and technical measures to limit leaching of nutrients and agrochemicals, …, development of management options to mitigate effects on water quality in drinking-water protection areas, including cooperation between local governments, water supply companies and farmers, …, to policy development, and lessons to be learned from policy implementation, e.g. comparison of farmers’ behaviour between top-down and bottom-up implementation of agri-environmental measures.

AGU Chapman Conference — The Second National Conference: Justice in Geoscience 14-17 August 2022 Washington, DC, USA The Second National Conference: Justice in Geoscience engages intergenerational and convergent coalitions to broaden participation of Black, Native/Indigenous,
12 sep 2022 - 16 sep 2022 • Golden, CO, États-Unis
Organisateur:
American Geophysical Union (AGU)
Résumé:
Despite the inherent complexity of water availability, the hydrologic cycle has historically been studied from narrow disciplinary perspectives, often isolated from societal context. Addressing the challenge of water availability requires understanding the issues holistically, bringing together the pieces of the puzzle held by different disciplinary perspectives. Our Chapman conference will uncover and make explicit divergent views, assumptions, data types, and research methods that make integration difficult.

8th EGU Galileo Conference: European Vision for Hydrological Observations and Experimentation
12 jui 2023 - 15 jui 2023 • Naples, Italie
Résumé:
In the next decades, expected changes in the water cycle will be a major driver in shaping our environment and its ecosystems. Water is the key factor for life and for sustaining food, feed and biomass for energy production in today’s bio-based economies. The water cycle will be strongly affected by climate change but the extent and impact on ecosystems functioning and services are only roughly known. Increasing hydrological extremes, such as floods and droughts, may lead to severe ecological, economic and societal impacts. In a recent review, Vereecken et al. (2015) urged the hydrological science community to establish a network of hydrological observatories in Europe. At present, there is no concerted and dedicated action in the field of hydrology neither in Europe nor world-wide with respect to making hydrological data accessible to the research community and in designing cross-catchment experiments.
Sujets:

DFHM8 — 8th International Conference on Debris Flow Hazard Mitigation
26 jui 2023 - 23 jui 2023 • Turin, Italie
Organisateur:
Politecnico di Torino, Italy
Résumé:
The conference will be a platform for participants to discuss the current situation, challenges, and advancements related to debris flows, from triggering to deposition, passing through the analysis of their propagation dynamics and interaction with mitigation structures. Physical and numerical modelling together with the description of real cases, site surveys and investigations will be the tools to allow sharing novelty, experiences and best practices. With this in mind, and following the successful 7th edition held in Colorado, USA, in 2019, the Organizing Committee has set the goal to prepare a stimulating scientific program for scientists, professionals, and policy makers.
