Organisateur:
Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG) in partnership with SAIMM
Résumé:
In 2020, we’re addressing the narrative. Staying true to our goal of facilitating global collaboration, under the theme of Building a Better Future, our 2020 forum series will address many of today’s burning issues that are impacting the mining industry while solving common challenges that continue to prevent major progress. Our forums, held around the globe, feature experts from inside and outside mining that we bring together to learn from each other’s successes and failures. The forums are a great opportunity to tap into this diverse pool of knowledge and experience.

Comminution '20
27 avr 2020 - 30 avr 2020 • Le Cap, Afrique du Sud
Résumé:
This, the 12th International Comminution Symposium (Comminution '20) is organised by MEI in consultation with Prof. Aubrey Mainza. MEI's Comminution conferences are established as the main events for profiling cutting edge research and innovation in all aspects of crushing, grinding and ultrafine grinding in the minerals industry. We strongly encourage a good balance between industrially based and academic research papers showing the benefits of basing practical application on scientific rigour, such as the industrial validation of models and control techniques.

Developments in the Processing of the "Hi-Tech" Metals: Hi-Tech Metals '20
12 oct 2020 - 13 oct 2020 • Le Cap, Afrique du Sud
Résumé:
The 2nd International Conference on Developments in the Processing of the "Hi-Tech" Metals (Hi-Tech Metals '20) is organised by MEI and is sponsored by ZEISS. Media sponsors are International Mining. Less than half a century ago the rare earth elements were classed as minor metals - who had even heard of neodymium, now essential in the production of powerful rare earth permanent magnets, used in wind turbines and many other applications? Lithium was essentially a curiosity, the third element in the Periodic Table, and the lightest metal. Now, of course it is in high demand for light, powerful batteries, and the increasing prevalence of electric cars will increase the demand for this once minor metal, as well as for cobalt and nickel. The rare earths and lithium are primary mined, but some of the once minor metals, such as gallium, germanium and indium, which are essential for our modern way of life, are by-products of base metal mining. The importance of all these metals cannot be overestimated and Developments in the Processing of the Hi-Tech Metals will be MEI's first international conference dealing with the mineral processing and extractive metallurgy of these metals from primary and secondary resources, and the environmental problems that are often associated with their extraction.
