Abstract
Wei-Liang Chow (October 1, 1911, Shanghai – August 10, 1995, Baltimore) was a celebrated mathematician best known for his work in algebraic geometry, though he also made important contributions to other areas such as differential geometry, differential equations, and control theory. Within algebraic geometry he is known among other things for his work on intersection theory (Chow's moving lemma, Chow ring), for Chow's theorem on algebraicity of projective analytic varieties, and for many other achievements.

ECSIA — 12th European Congress for Stereology and Image Analysis

Dates
11 Sep 2017 - 14 Sep 2017
Location
Kaiserslautern, Germany
Abstract
Stereology is an interdisciplinary field of research concerned with the three-dimensional interpretation of lower dimensional samples of materials or tissues. It utilizes random, systematic sampling to provide unbiased and quantitative data from microscopic images.

The International Society for Stereology & Image Analysis (ISSIA, http://www.issia.net/) is an international scientific society aiming to promote stereology and image analysis in a wide range of disciplines, such as mathematics, biomedicine, physics, geology, metallurgy, plant biology, etc.

ISSIA organizes alternatingly International and European Conferences every two years. The upcoming 12th European Congress for Stereology and Image Analysis will take place in September 2017 in Kaiserslautern.
