Zusammenfassung
Psychology was introduced to Asian universities at least a half century after Wilhelm Wundt in Germany (or according to American version by William James in the USA) founded it in the year of 1879. Since then, teachings, researches and the application of psychology in Asia, are based almost entirely on the western paradigms. However, evidently some of the theories, methodologies and techniques, which mostly have been developed referring to the western scientific investigations, are not appropriate comprehend the Asia minds. Psychologists all over the world have ceaselessly participated in exploring any possibilities to find a better world for human life in every generation by understanding the profiles of human beings to create life improvement in the society and each individual in order to find better life and happiness. Submit your abstract and Let us get together to find the save roads in any possible way for our generations for a better world!

The Neural Framework of Moral Cognition
ID
860199
Termin
10. Jun 2017 - 17. Jun 2017
Ort
Siena, Italien
Zusammenfassung
Neurobiological investigation over the last decades has effectively approached the field of moral cognition. The roles of oxytocin, vasopressin, and endogenous opiods on the basic motivational organization for sociality has been extensively studied, revealing a very specific neural organization underlying attachment between parents and offspring, between mates, and among friends. Furthermore, studies on reinforcement learning pointed to the coordinated role of basal ganglia and frontal cortex in the internalization of values, their strong association with emotions, and their role in planning and decision-making. During this Advanced Course the most recent studies on the emerging field of the neural framework for moral cognition will be critically discussed and analyzed.

Social and Cognitive Neuroscience of Thought
ID
860121
Termin
24. Jun 2017 - 01. Jul 2017
Ort
Siena, Italien
Zusammenfassung
This Advanced Course will focus on applying cutting-edge neuroscience approaches to fundamental questions about the human mind. Historically, many important advances in neuroscience have come from highly invasive studies of model animals, including rodents and monkeys. However, fascinating aspects of human psychology and cognition cannot be recreated in animal models, including language, morality, social group interactions, and complex decision making. Over the past five years, new experimental designs and analysis techniques have dramatically increased the power of noninvasive neuroimaging in humans to address these questions directly. The Advanced Course will cover: 1) how richly structured knowledge about the environment is acquired, and used to guide adaptive behavior; 2) the role of early experience in structuring concepts of events, objects and other people; 3) how people balance their internal perspective with the social context of other people; 4) how persuasive message and ideas spread across people and affect behavior; 5) how decision making is affected by social and societal context; 6) how people balance selfish and moral motivations in social decision making; and 7) how group membership and prejudice lead to failures of empathy, dehumanization, and misunderstanding of other people. The Faculty will focus on cutting edge techniques for integrating behavioral, computational, and machine learning approaches with neuroimaging of the human brain.

Ort

Zusammenfassung
This Advanced Course will cut across multiple fields of sleep studies and will feature dedicated sessions addressing important emerging areas. Emphasis will be placed on cutting-edge methods and hypotheses for understanding sleep and its effects on cognitive functions, and on how neurophysiological/genetic/imaging approaches can shed light on the functions of sleep and its essential role in maintaining and preserving vigilance, performance, learning and memory. Some of the topics that will be covered include the following: 1) the link between sleep and brain plasticity, with in depth discussion of the ultrastructural, molecular, electrophysiological and behavioral evidence linking synaptic plasticity and learning during wake with sleep need; 2) the discovery of novel brain circuits and cell types involved in sleep regulation; 3) the role of sleep in learning, memory consolidation as well as forgetting; 4) the effects of sleep loss on brain cognitive functions and how these effects depend on a complex interaction between homeostatic and circadian factors; 5) sleep and dreaming, and how the application of new behavioral paradigms and high-density EEG can contribute to the understanding of the occurrence of conscious experiences during sleep. The course will be an interactive, multidisciplinary forum in which participants will discard outdated notions, gain an appreciation for the latest thinking, and develop insights that will help navigate the complexity of sleep research.

AAP — The Psychotherapy Relationship: What Works
ID

Termin
18. Okt 2017 - 22. Okt 2017
Ort

Zusammenfassung
A century of experience and recent research have validated the importance of the relationship in psychotherapy. While research debates the most effective therapy model, the quality of the therapeutic relationship is consistently recognized as most important regardless of modality. What are the qualities present in therapeutic relationships that produce healing connections? We will draw on the expertise of master practitioners and researchers to tease out what makes a relationship therapeutic. The Academy continues to challenge theory and look deeply at practice, and particularly at the person of the psychotherapist, valuing working on ourselves as a key component of the therapeutic process. The centrality of the therapeutic relationship is consistent with Academy focus. We have lined up three featured speakers who will each explore, demonstrate and discuss their findings on important dynamics in the psychotherapy relationship. Professor Anthony Bateman brings his work on mentalization, which speaks to the interactions between the internal worlds of both client and therapist. Dr. Phillip Shaver will explore the psychotherapy relationship through the lens of attachment, and the interplay of the individual attachment styles of both therapist and client. Our Keynote speaker, John Norcross, has studied the therapeutic relationship and identified common factors that are effective in all psychotherapies. All featured speakers will also offer a smaller workshop following their plenary. We hope to offer participants many opportunities to refine, refocus and energize their therapy process by highlighting some of what we already do, sharing what experience teaches with the research to back it up.
