With the development of shipping industry, the original single line shiplock was unable to meet the rapid development of shipping industry, which caused to the construction of second-line locks is imminent. Due to the arrangement of the second-line shiplock is usually difficult to find the proper location, the construction of second-line shiplock usually required an extensive excavation of the mountains, which result in the construction cost substantially increaseing. In this paper, the single culvert filling-emptying system is adopted, which is a new type of filling-emptying system with no successful application of similar locks in China and abroad. Therefore. It is of great significance to discuss the arrangement of the single culvert filling-emptying system of the high-water level and the hydraulic study of the shiplock. In this paper, the 1:40 scale local model, 1:25scale shiplock overall model test and shiplock water supply process mathematical model calculation were implemented by using the advanced control equipment and data acquisition system. The shape of valve, arrangement of elevation, demensions of each part of the lock chamber horizontal branch culvert, the presure at each part of the culvert, the distribution of flux between the main culvert and the horizontal branch culvert, and the ship mooring force at the lock chamber were discussed systematically. The arrangement of single culvert filling-emptying system and horizontal branch culvert for high water level shiplock was provided and demonstrated firstly. In addition, the pattern and dimensions of single culvert filling-emptying system was put forward.
