Keystone Symposia: Helminths - New Insights from Immunity to Global Health
08 dec 2019 - 12 dec 2019 • Le Cap, Afrique du Sud
Résumé:
Parasitic worms, or helminths, infect roughly one in five people on the planet and cause pathology in hundreds of millions. Given the global impact on human health and welfare, there is a great need to develop novel therapies and/or vaccines that target helminths. In addition, the unique nature of how these parasites interact with their hosts has brought tremendous insight into the mammalian immune system. Experimental studies of helminth infection have led to the identification of new cell types involved in type 2 immunity, including innate lymphoid cells, tuft cells, and new roles for neurons, in addition to revealing novel pathways of tissue repair and immune-modulation. The interactions of helminths with the microbiome has also come to light in recent years. This conference will highlight some of the most impactful advances in the fields of helminth genomics, helminth biology, vaccine design and host protective immunity, in addition to new discoveries highlighting the ability of these organisms to modulate the immune system, human disease and the microbiome.

Exosomes in Human Infectious Diseases Conference
05 mar 2020 - 08 mar 2020 • Nassau, Bahamas
Organisateur:
Fusion Conferences Ltd
Résumé:
Extracellular vesicles (EVs), which are generated by almost all living cells, are now considered to be an important system of cell–cell communication. A large volume of data has been published on EVs in different fields of biology and medicine, from immunology to marine biology. These data are discussed at large international meetings that gather thousands of researchers. However, there is still a need for more-focused meetings at which the importance and reliability of the data should be evaluated by a narrow circle of experts. Here, we propose to organize a small conference that will focus on one of the most important aspects of EVs, their role in infectious human diseases. The aim of the proposed conference is to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of this involvement and to evaluate EVs as potential therapeutic targets.

HIV Glasgow 2020
04 oct 2020 - 07 oct 2020 • Glasgow, Royaume-Uni
Organisateur:
Organising Secretariat - Ashfield Healthcare Communications
Résumé:
The HIV Glasgow programme is of interest to clinical investigators from across the globe to review current research and discuss its implications for HIV management strategies. Although there has been steady progress in HIV drug treatment, significant challenges still remain, including persistence of elevated risk of non-AIDS morbidity, with potential for HIV and/or antiretroviral therapy (ART) as causes, paediatric and adolescent care, models of care for the ageing population, and treatment issues throughout less well-resourced parts of Europe and the rest of the world. The Congress is also moving into areas beyond treatment, such as prevention, with time in the programme focussed on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and issues across Europe and beyond. The important role of people living with HIV in treatment decisions and self-management continues to feature, and we look forward to a number of perspectives in the programme from the community.
