Soil and Rock Committee (D18) of ASTM

This symposium will provide a forum for experts from around the world to discuss the need for new or revisions to current ASTM standards used in laboratory ring shear, direct shear, direct simple shear, and triaxial compression testing of soils, which includes specimen preparation, reconstitution, consolidation, and drainage during consolidation and shearing. This symposium also will provide a forum for experts to discuss the need for new or revisions to current ASTM standards used in field shear testing, e.g., field vane shear, T-Bar, cone penetrometer, pressuremeter, and any other field shear test.

The 5th Advanced School on Exoplanetary Science will be held in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno), Italy from 26 to 30 May, 2025. The School - taking place close to the enchanting Amalfi Coast - is aimed to provide a comprehensive, state-of-the-art picture of a variety of relevant aspects of the fast-developing, highly interdisciplinary field of Exoplanet research. The Lecture topics of the 5th edition of the School will be focused on the Physical and Dynamical Processes of Exoplanetary Systems, mainly covering the theoretical aspects. The Lectures will be delivered by five senior researchers to an audience of graduate students and young post-docs.

The PANAM UNSAT 2025 conference's main theme is "Unsaturated Soils for All Environments", and will include typical topics in unsaturated soils, but also aspires to include special topics on the role of unsaturated mechanics in cold regions geotechnique, the role of unsaturated soils in managing the impacts of climate change. The conference will also showcase practical applications of unsaturated soil theory in geotechnical, mining, geohazards, and other applied fields.

NGI will organise the 9th International Symposium for Geotechnical Safety and Risk (ISGSR), a successful biennial series of international conferences supported by the Geotechnical Safety Network (GEOSNet), ISSMGE Technical Committees TC304, TC205 and TC309, and ASCE Geo Institutes Technical Committee on Risk Assessment and Management. The symposium will be held in Oslo, Norway on 24th 27th August 2025. The theme of ISGSR 2025 is Geotechnical Risk Frontiers and will feature the latest research developments and innovations in engineering practice with a focus on the use of probabilistic and risk methodologies in geotechnical engineering.
