TC-308 in cooperation with Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology

The upcoming edition of the symposium series on Energy Geotechnics, SEG-2023, held under the auspices of the ISSMGE Technical Committee 308 on Energy Geotechnics,, will be held on 3-5 October 2023 in Delft, the Netherlands. Keynote lectures from prominent researchers and practitioners in the field of energy geotechnics, state-of-the-art lectures and technical sessions focusing on the task forces of TC-308 will be a part of SEG23. We warmly welcome you to contribute and attend and look forward to an exciting scientific exchange. Contributions on various topics related to the energy geotechnics field, including geothermal energy, energy geostructures, energy storage, offshore geotechnics, carbon sequestration, radioactive waste disposal and induced seismicity, are encouraged in the scope of SEG23.

The Construction Industry is contributing significantly to the CO2 emissions, and so is the Deep Foundation Industry. With sustainability becoming more relevant each and every day, we, as a profession, have a role to play to reduce our emissions. Decarbonization is the first option: more efficient design reducing volumes of concrete or steel, and the use of different materials with lower carbon footprint. However, this should not be viewed as the only option available: the reuse of existing foundations must be considered as well, and even preferred as the most sustainable option.

The 5th European Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics (ECPMG 2024) will be held in Delft, The Netherlands, from October 2nd to 4th, 2024. ECPMG 2024 is organized by ISSMGE's technical committee on Physical modelling (TC 104) and the EU funded GEOLAB project.
