이번 학술대회의 주제는 ‘한국어 언어학의 다양한 접근법’입니다. 언어학 연구의 핵심에는 변이와 다양성이 있습니다. 그리고 한국어 언어학은 새로운 경험연구와 간학제적인 협력 연구로 그 영역을 넓히고 있을 뿐만 아니라 다양한 연구자들의 전지구적 참여도 늘어나고 있습니다. 이러한 맥락에서 이번 학술대회는 교수, 연구원, 대학원생을 포함하여 세계 곳곳에서 활동하고 있는 언어 연구자들의 넓은 다양성을 한 곳에 모으고 교류하는 장이 되었으면 합니다. 더우기 이번 학술대회는 1975년에 창립한 ICKL의 50주년을 축하하는 뜻깊은 자리가 될 것입니다.

This fifth ICOP-L2 conference will be held at Newcastle University in the North-East of England, and hosted by the University’s Applied Linguistics & Communication (ALC) research team. ALC at Newcastle has a long and proud history of research in social interaction research, and L2 interaction more specifically, dating back over 20 years.

Belonging is a complex and contested issue within the queer community. Those who identify as queer often experience a complicated sense of (dis)belonging—not only when navigating heteronormative social structures that privilege heterosexuality and cisgender identities, but also within queer communities and spaces themselves. By emphasizing queer (dis)belonging, we wish to interrogate the politics of inclusion and exclusion both within and beyond queer spaces, inviting research that critically examines how queer people negotiate their identities within: i) social structures such as political systems, class hierarchies, nation states, kinship networks, and religious institutions; and ii) technologies such as AI, social media, and digital communication.
