The Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) Workshop is a single-track workshop highlighting the latest trends in integer programming and discrete optimization, with speakers chosen by invitation. The 2025 edition of the workshop will be the twenty-second in the MIP series.

This summer school offers an exceptional opportunity for participants to delve into the intricate realm of statistical optimal transport theory. This captivating field stands at the crossroads of multiple disciplines, drawing from a rich tapestry of mathematical insights from diverse subjects, including partial differential equations, stochastic analysis, convex geometry, statistics, and machine learning, crafting a vibrant and interdisciplinary landscape. The foremost objective of this summer school is to create a dynamic learning environment that unites students from diverse backgrounds such as PDE theory, probability, or optimal transport. Throughout the program, participants will embark on a journey that will not only enhance their comprehension of the distinct elements of statistical optimal transport but will also foster the integration of diverse disciplines. This integration will enable them to tackle the forefront challenges in statistics and machine learning where optimal transport stands as a potent and indispensable tool. By the end of the program, participants will leave with not only a comprehensive skill set but also a profound understanding of the synergy between optimal transport and the realm of statistics and machine learning, ready to apply their knowledge to the forefront of this exciting field.

The Workshop on Optimization, Dynamics, and Control Applications (WODCA 2025) is organized by a team of professors and researchers from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Aveiro, with the scientific support of CIDMA—Center for Research & Development in Mathematics and Applications—and the University of Algarve. This edition of WODCA is dedicated to celebrating the 65th anniversary of Prof. Alexander Plakhov, recognizing his remarkable scientific career and the impact of his contributions to the mathematical community. With more than 25 years of dedication to the University of Aveiro, Prof. Plakhov has published over 100 papers and books and has played a central role in research on Optimization, Graph Theory, and Combinatorics at CIDMA, a group he has been coordinating since 2018. The workshop aims to bring together researchers working in areas such as Billiard Theory, Dynamical Systems, Optimal Mass Transportation, Control, and Optimization, fostering the exchange of ideas and the development of new scientific collaborations.

Ergodic optimization is a general framework in dynamical system where an observable is understood through its minimum over the set of invariant probability measures. A measure that attained that minimum is called minimizing. The general question is to understand the set of minimizing measures and more generally the set of minimizing orbits. One possible approach is to see minimizing measures as ground states, that is as limits of Gibbs measures at zero temperature. Gibbs measures are eigensolutions of the Ruelle operator or the transfer operator. We intend to study such questions in the framework of skew products of dynamical systems where the base dynamics is random (ergodic and invertible) and the fiber dynamics is a composition of maps indexed by a random environment. The problem of optimizing an observable in a random environment is new and has not yet been studied.

The MIP European Workshop is part of the MIP International Workshop series, held in addition to the classical MIP Workshop.

The Latin American Algorithms, Graphs, and Optimization Symposium (LAGOS) is a biennial event that brings together researchers and practitioners from around the world. Since 2001, LAGOS has served as a key forum for the exchange of ideas and collaboration. It is the merger of two Latin American conferences: the Brazilian Symposium on Graphs, Algorithms, and Combinatorics (GRACO) and the Latin American Conference on Combinatorics, Graphs, and Applications (LACGA).
