Partial differential equations (PDEs) are central to modeling complex phenomena across the physical, biological, and engineering sciences. Many of these models involve tightly coupled processes spanning multiple spatial and temporal scales, leading to significant analytical and computational challenges. This workshop addresses these challenges by presenting modern strategies that combine mathematical rigor with computational efficiency. Key topics include adaptive discretizations, domain decomposition, multiscale and multilevel formulations, and problem-adapted approximation spaces. Special attention is given to scalable hierarchical solvers and emerging machine learning techniques that complement or accelerate traditional numerical methods. The overarching goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical advances and real-world applications—showcasing methods that enable robust, efficient simulations in fields such as quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, optics, and materials science. By fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue, the workshop seeks to advance the development of next-generation PDE tools that are both practically effective and mathematically sound.

This workshop is aimed at the participants in the Trimester Program "Computational multifidelity, multilevel, and multiscale methods". It is not possible to apply only for this workshop.

The first course will focus on reduction principles for Sobolev-type inequalities, based on symmetrization, isoperimetry, interpolation, and rearrangements. The second course will focus on carré du champ techniques, entropy methods and their application to extremal functions, symmetry, rigidity, and stability.

To celebrate the return of the International Congress of Mathematicians to the United States after a forty-year absence, we propose a satellite conference focusing on the analysis of Partial Differential Equations used to describe the physical world. The scope of the conference covers a broad range of topics, including fluid dynamics, General Relativity, optics and quantum mechanics, all unified by their connection to hyperbolic and dispersive PDEs. We aim to leverage the fantastic research environment of the northeastern USA to attract prominent mathematicians from around the world while also creating opportunities for graduate students and early-career researchers to learn from and engage with leaders in the field.

The subjects in this workshop are closely related to the world we live in. For example, the Einstein metrics - describing gravitational fields and mirror symmetry - a phenomenon discovered to describe our physical universe. To understand them, we need to find solutions to equations that involve many unknowns and their derivatives. It is highly challenging to construct solutions for these equations. Many basic questions remain open despite great efforts have been devoted and significant progress has been made. In attempts to solve the equations, a powerful way is the geometric flows. These are equations which evolve the key quantities that we try to understand along with time, and as time moves on the evolutions eventually get close to the true solutions. This approach has been fruitful and providing deep insights. It it timely to gather some of the leading experts and young talents to share their results and imitate new projects.

IWOTA brings together leading specialists from around the world for an intensive exchange of recent results, information, and ideas, as well as to outline prospects for future development in the field. The conference brings together mathematicians and engineers working on operational aspects of functional analysis and their applications in related fields, including differential and integral equations, complex and harmonic analysis, linear systems and control theory, mathematical physics, signal processing, and numerical analysis. IWOTA meetings offer participants (including young researchers) the opportunity to present their work in the form of invited talks or free communications, to interact with colleagues from around the world, and to broaden their knowledge in the field. In addition, IWOTA emphasizes interdisciplinary exchanges between mathematicians, electrical engineers, and mathematical physicists.

An ICM Satellite Conference

The mathematical description of many-particle systems is a fundamental and challenging problem. At the microscopic level, particle interactions can be modeled with very large systems of ordinary differential equations. This approach can be impractical due to the very large dimension of the systems. Mean field models based on partial differential equations thus arise to describe the collective behavior of a large number of particles. Depending on the spatial and temporal scales, as well as the heterogeneity among particles, PDEs of different types and dimensions emerge. At the mesoscopic level, effective models are kinetic equations - including the Vlasov, Boltzmann, Landau equations - while at the macroscopic level we have continuum equations (for example, the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations). Beyond common mathematical challenges, microscopic, kinetic and fluid equations share a deeper link: Fluid equations can be obtained as a limit in certain asymptotic regimes from kinetic equations which, in turn, can be obtained by limits from microscopic models. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers working in these three connected areas from an analytical and computational perspective. These areas have seen dramatic progress over the last decade, and the methods and problems in each field are becoming highly relevant to the other fields. The meeting will showcase the most recent breakthrough results and promote interactions among communities and cross-pollination of techniques and mathematical methods.

The second objective of the conference is to train the next generation of QIS researchers including senior undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career researchers. The event will provide Canadian and international trainees with knowledge on the current state of the field and an understanding of key challenges in QIS.

The mathematical modeling of biological systems with partial differential equations has a long and successful history. Many results on species invasion or extinction, pattern formation and species interactions have been derived and used to better understand the biology around us. Applications cover a vast scale of sizes, from protein movement in the cell nucleus, to cell movement to tissue structure, organ structure, up to species interactions on the population level. Recently, a new model class arose that include finite distance interactions into the partial differential equation (PDE) framework. Non-local interactions relate to different sensing mechanisms, starting with sensing through sight and smell, to sensing through touch, cell-cell contact and cell protrusions to more abstract concepts such as learning and memory. In this workshop we aim to bring together established and young researchers to push the frontiers of research into non-local partial differential equations and their applications to biological problems.

The analysis of nonlinear diffusion PDEs is a wide field of research that not only encompasses elliptic and parabolic equations, but also includes several functional-analytic tools that proved successful in the deep understanding of such equations: just to mention a few, we recall Hardy, Poincaré and Sobolev inequalities. The corresponding rigorous theory, at least in the Euclidean setting, has reached extremely high levels, both in the local and the nonlocal case, with many sharp results available by now. The general interest for such equations is motivated by the fact that they are of paramount importance in the description and modeling of a number of real-world phenomena (e.g., the flow of gases through a porous medium, water infiltration, heat dispersion, population dynamics, etc...).

We are glad to announce the conference to celebrate 40 years of the seminar of the group in Analysis and Partial Differential Equations at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM). Mathematical Analysis has a long-standing tradition in the Basque Country, with the group seminar serving as the main gathering point for the community since its inception. Members of this community have made significant contributions to key areas such as harmonic analysis, dispersive equations, kinetic theory, and nonlinear equations, and this event brings together leading specialists in these fields to present the latest developments and foster new directions of research.

The workshop addresses recent advances in the numerical and theoretical analysis of Hamilton-Jacobi equations and mean-field PDEs, which lie at the heart of optimal control, differential games, and the modelling of large-scale interacting systems. These equations are central to many applications in physics, finance, engineering, and the social sciences, yet their analysis and numerical approximation remain challenging due to their nonlinear, degenerate, and often high-dimensional nature. Attention will be given to the development of robust numerical methods with proven convergence properties, including semi-Lagrangian schemes, finite element and viscosity approaches, and recent techniques based on scientific machine learning. The workshop will explore the interplay between analytical theory and computational practice, aiming to connect Hamilton-Jacobi and mean-field models with related fields such as stochastic control and optimal transport. By bringing together researchers from across numerical analysis, PDE theory, applied analysis and probability, the event seeks to stimulate new collaborations and perspectives on both foundational problems and real-world applications.

The 5-day workshop, "Space-time Approaches to PDE Solvers: Unlocking the Power of Co-Design'', will bring together a diverse group of leading international experts in numerical analysis, scientific computing, and hardware-software integration to review and explore the cutting-edge developments and challenges in the simulation of complex PDEs. The workshop will focus on three major themes: i) space-time discretization methods for PDEs; ii) co-design principles for the next generation of PDE solvers; and iii) real-world applications for these advanced solvers, ranging from fluid dynamics and Earth system modeling to plasma-based energy systems to biomedical simulations and personalized medicine.
