8th EGU Galileo Conference: European Vision for Hydrological Observations and Experimentation
12 Jun 2023 - 15 Jun 2023 • Naples, Italy
In the next decades, expected changes in the water cycle will be a major driver in shaping our environment and its ecosystems. Water is the key factor for life and for sustaining food, feed and biomass for energy production in today’s bio-based economies. The water cycle will be strongly affected by climate change but the extent and impact on ecosystems functioning and services are only roughly known. Increasing hydrological extremes, such as floods and droughts, may lead to severe ecological, economic and societal impacts. In a recent review, Vereecken et al. (2015) urged the hydrological science community to establish a network of hydrological observatories in Europe. At present, there is no concerted and dedicated action in the field of hydrology neither in Europe nor world-wide with respect to making hydrological data accessible to the research community and in designing cross-catchment experiments.
Soil moisture dynamics across scales; Data assimilation and hydrological observations; UAS- and satellite-based remote sensing for hydrological observatories; Geophysics and isotopes in catchment hydrology; Big data science in hydrological research.

With great pleasure and honour the Italian Geotechnical Society (AGI) and the Italian Chapter of IGS (AGI-IGS) invite you to attend the 12th International Conference on Geosynthetics, which will be held in Roma, Italy, on 18 – 22 September 2022. After Sustainability, the ability to overcome the natural events effects, often related to climate change, and human activities forced to refer to a new keyword: Resiliency. Hence the 12ICG intends to become the base for the next step therefore the conference theme will be: Geosynthetics, Leading the Way to a Resilient Planet

WLF 2023 — 6th World Landslide Forum
14 Nov 2023 - 17 Nov 2023 • Florence, Italy
The event is jointly organized by the International Consortium on Landslides (Kyoto, Japan), the International Programme on Landslides (IPL) and the UNESCO Chair on Prevention and Sustainable Management of Geo-hydrological Hazards at the University of Florence.
World Landslide Forums have been organized every three years since the first forum in Tokyo, Japan, in 2008. They are a common platform for scientists, engineers, practitioners and policy makers who are involved in landslide disaster risk reduction to present their latest progress.

Centennial Celebration and Congress of the International Union of Soil Sciences
19 May 2024 - 21 May 2024 • Florence, Italy
The International Union of Soil Sciences; The Italian Society of Soil Science
The custodian of soil science will celebrate its centennial contribute to the nature and human wellbeing in 2024. The event will also empower the linkages with different disciplines, policy makers, stakeholders, institutions, and associations to effectively address civil society needs within agriculture, forestry, environment, urban planning, energy, education, and other societal issues. The celebration will occur on May 19th and will be followed by two intense days of congress, with plenary and parallel scientific sessions. Both soil scientists and specialists from other disciplines will participate to each session, focusing on past achievements and future challenges. The congress will be followed by technical/scientific excursions that will range from short local to long trips, spanning from Alps to Sicily. A pre-congress visit to Villa Lubin in Rome, the historical place where the IUSS was founded, is scheduled on May 18th.
