Abstract:
ERF 2020 online: The 5th European Resources Forum will be held on November 03, 2020 as a virtual conference. The ERF has established as an European platform for discussion on the issue of sustainable resource use by focusing on the political and scientific debate on this subject. The conference addresses European decision makers and experts from the fields of policy development, industry, academia, civil society and the media. Up to 500 participants from over 40 nations are expected. The European Resources Forum contributes to the development and implementation of common positions for policy-making in Europe and internationally. The ERF is an instrument for communication on resource issues and for setting up networks and initiating stakeholder alliances at the European and international level.

Abstract:
The 21st EMBL Science & Society Conference in 2020 seeks to address these questions. It will consider the impact of environmental changes on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being. Crucially, it will focus on potential solutions and types of action: from activism to political strategies, and from local grass-roots conservation groups to global youth movements. It will also evaluate the application of various targeted intervention methods across data science, emerging technologies, sustainability solutions and beyond.
