Sedimentology of plastics: state of the art and future directions
18 Mar 2024 - 19 Mar 2024 • Birmingham, United Kingdom
Abstract:
This multi-disciplinary workshop brings together researchers with interests in how plastic behaves as a sedimentary material. Understanding how, where and when plastics are transported, break down and accumulate in the natural environment requires sedimentary geoscience research to be integrated with contributions from material scientists, chemical engineers and chemists, experimentalists, fluid dynamicists and biologists.

Odour Management: Embracing Global Perspectives
14 May 2024 - 16 May 2025 • Toronto, ON, Canada
Organizer:
Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA)
Abstract:
This conference, which will be held at the King Blue Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 14-16, 2024, will cover a wide array of odour topics, including odour science, chemical forensics and source identification, field assessment methods, electronic sensing, sampling methods, policy and regulation, modeling, controls and mitigation, community impacts, and best practices. The conference builds off momentum gathered by the well-attended December 2022 odour webinar related to the international olfactory laboratory standard EN13725:2022. In partnership with the Ontario Section of A&WMA, the two-day International Conference will be followed by a full day of discussions focused on Ontario specific odour and noise nuisance issues and land-use planning.
Topics:

Chemical Recycling Europe
05 Jun 2024 - 06 Jun 2024 • Brussels, Belgium
Organizer:
Applied Market Information Ltd. (AMI)
Abstract:
AMI’s fifth Chemical Recycling event takes place on 5-6 June 2024 at the nhow Brussels Bloom Hotel in Brussels, Belgium. With high expectations on capacity due to come online before the end of the decade, chemical recycling has continued to grip the attention of the plastics industry. However, there are still challenges to be addressed to enable the industry to scale and contribute towards recycling targets in Europe before key deadlines in 2025. As the time approaches for the various technologies to deliver on their commitments, Chemical Recycling 2024 explores the ongoing developments as well as highlights challenges and opportunities for the industry. Bringing together experts from across the plastics supply chain, this event is an essential meeting place for anyone looking to learn more, connect with industry leaders and discuss the latest updates in this fast-moving sector.
Topics:
Exploring the potential of chemical or advanced recycling to turn waste plastics into new materials

5th International Conference on Environmental Geotechnology, Recycled Waste Materials and Sustainable Engineering
04 Jul 2024 - 06 Jul 2024 • Warsaw, Poland
Organizer:
Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Institute of Civil Engineering, Poland
Abstract:
Environmental Geotechnology, Recycled Waste Materials and Sustainable Engineering (EGRWSE) is a recurring conference organized since 2018 at renowned research centers such as the UIC (USA), NlT at Jalandhar (India) and Dokuz Eylul University (Turkey). These conferences were highly successful events covering cutting-edge research in renvironmental geotechnics, sustainable engineering, use of recycled materials in infrastructure or presentation of modern technologies implemented for sustainable development in construction, renewable energy and environmental engineering. All engineering fields should incorporate sustainability into their practice for an improved quality of life. The necessity for environment-friendly technologies in the future will require the expertise of engineers. Therefore, the UNESCO Engineering Initiative (UEI) is working with partners to develop engineering curricula that incorporate sustainability as an overarching theme. EGRWSE-2024 will be the 5th edition of the global conference which will refer to the current problems of civilization related to climate change and will focus on sustainable engineering implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. The conference will also discuss research on the use of recycled materials in construction following the demands of a circular economy.
Topics:
Solid waste and circular economy; Geoenvironmental pollution control; Sustainable geoinfrastructure; Geotechnics for renewable energy; Environmental geotechnics for climate change
