Winter School on Geometric Constraint Systems
11 Jan 2021 - 22 Jan 2021 • The Fields Institute – online, Switzerland
Organizer:
The Fields Institute
Abstract:
The winter school will feature a series of short lecture courses (2-4 hours each) on the main topics of the program. These are designed to give graduate students, early career researchers and experts in neighbouring fields a better understanding of each subject by presenting multiple viewpoints from different lecturers, thus enabling the participants to better engage in the subsequent workshops and seminars. There will also be problem sessions and working groups in the afternoons to expose graduate students to cutting edge research and foster collaborations among postdoctoral fellows, long term participants and winter school participants from all career stages.

Linear Response: Rigorous Results and Applications
25 Jan 2021 - 29 Jan 2021 • Lausanne, Switzerland
Organizer:
Bernoulli Center (CIB), CIB is part of EPFL
Abstract:
Transfer operators have been used to study rare and extreme events in dynamical systems and the linear - or nonlinear - response of systems to perturbations, including applications to climate dynamics. This conference brings together experts from both theoretical and applied aspects of these studies, also in the presence of singularities.

Spring School on Transfer Operators (Classical and Modern Techniques).
22 Mar 2021 - 26 Mar 2021 • Lausanne, Switzerland
Organizer:
Bernoulli Center (CIB), CIB is part of EPFL
Abstract:
This school will provide courses from experts on several aspects of the spectrum of transfer operators. Special attention will be provided to the theory of anisotropic spaces, and to applications in geometrical or physical settings. The target audience includes PhD students and young postdocs.

Ruelle-Pollicott Resonances in Dynamics and in Semi-classical Analysis
12 Apr 2021 - 16 Apr 2021 • Lausanne, Switzerland
Organizer:
Bernoulli Center (CIB), CIB is part of EPFL
Abstract:
This conference brings together experts who study Ruelle-Pollicott resonances by using semiclassical and dynamical approaches. Topics range from the Fried conjectures and other geometrical conjectures to various approaches to construct anisotropic spaces and strategies to obtain spectral gaps and essential spectral gaps, including the fractal uncertainty principle, and addressing non smooth situations.

Transfer Operators Beyond Smooth or Uniformly Hyperbolic Systems
07 Jun 2021 - 11 Jun 2021 • Lausanne, Switzerland
Organizer:
Bernoulli Center (CIB), CIB is part of EPFL
Abstract:
There has recently been an explosion of results about transfer operators acting on anisotropic Banach spaces, starting with correlation decay and the analyticity properties of the Ruelle dynamical zeta function of uniformly hyperbolic maps and flows. These techniques have been extended to hyperbolic systems withsingularities, but the results there are limited to low dimension and there is no access to zeta functions. They have also been exploited in nonuniformly hyperbolic systems even in infinite measure, but basically only in the Markov case. Finally, very few results are currently available regarding the application of these techniques to partially hyperbolic systems. This conference is devoted to exploring these ongoing developments.
