Lipari School on Computational Complex and Social Systems
19 Jul 2019 - 25 Jul 2019 • Via Maddalena, Lipari, Italy
This summer school will provide opportunities to collect experience with modern data analysis, in particular Big Data analytics. This includes subjects to mine data in the Internet of Things. Our main and special guest lectures, which are recognized authorities in such a field, will address such a scope focusing on algorithms, computational models and practical results.
Lake Como School on Advances in Complex Systems: from Ecology to Economics
22 Jul 2019 - 26 Jul 2019 • Como, Italy
This is the third school on Advances in Complex Systems. The first edition of the school took place in the summer of 2015 and the second edition in the summer of 2017. The scope of the school series is to present recent advances in complex systems discussing applications of statistical mechanics of non-equilibrium and disordered systems, theories of complex networks and other stochastic systems to different topics in materials science, social sciences, biology and biomedical research. The broad choice of interdisciplinary topics is designed to expose the students to some of the multiple facets of complex systems theory. The 2019 edition of the school will focus on inderdisciplinary and quantitative approaches that span from ecology to economics. The school is open to 40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working in complex systems and related fields.
ISINP-2019 — Second International Summer Institute on Network Physiology
28 Jul 2019 - 02 Aug 2019 • Como, Italy
The Second International Summer Institute on Network Physiology (ISINP), to be held 28 July – 02 August 2019 in Como, Italy, will focus on this emerging field. It will lay the foundation of a new conceptual framework to study network interactions among diverse organ systems and sub-systems as a hallmark of physiologic state and function.
Lake Como School QRWG 2019 — Quantum Random Walks, Quantum Graphs and their spectra in Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics
04 Aug 2019 - 09 Aug 2019 • Como, Italy
Lake Como School of Advanced Studies
This school aims to introduce PhD students (and early career scientists) in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science to various aspects of the spectral theory of linear and nonlinear operators on networks. During the school we will explore the intricate relations between graphs models in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science and point out similarities between those apparently different research directions which are all combined in the interdisciplinary area of networks.
Mediterranean School on complex networks
31 Aug 2019 - 06 Sep 2019 • Salina, Sicily, Italy
In the last decade, network theory has been revealed to be a perfect instrument to model the structure of complex systems and the dynamical process they are involved into. The wide variety of applications to social sciences, technological networks, biology, transportation and economic, to cite just only some of them, showed that network theory is suitable to provide new insights into many problems. Given the success of the Fifth Edition in 2018 of the Mediterranean School of Complex Networks, we call for applications to the Sixth Edition in 2019.
Lake Como School MGDS 2019 — Model guided data-science
02 Sep 2019 - 06 Sep 2019 • Como, Italy
Lake Como School of Advanced Studies
This is a School of “model-guided Data Science”, organized as an intensive training week to familiarize PhD students and postdocs with interdisciplinary and quantitative interests (particularly from math, physics, engineering) to the job and tools of Data Scientist. Through mini-courses and hands-on work on concrete examples, the students will acquire specific skills that characterize modern data analysis. At the same time, they will be stimulated to make the most of the scientific skills and scientific and critical thinking already acquired over their education.
YRAC 2019 — Young Researchers Algebra Conference 2019
16 Sep 2019 - 18 Sep 2019 • Napoli , Italy
The aim of the conference is to allow PhD students and young researchers to share their knowledge and discuss topics in Algebra. The number of admissible participants is limited. Requests for a financial support to cover accommodation expenses must be indicated in the application form and will be evaluated by the organizers.
