Lake Como School EBMP 2019 — Economic Behaviours: Models, Measurements, and Policies
30 Jun 2019 - 05 Jul 2019 • Como, Italy
Organizer:
Lake Como School of Advanced Studies
Abstract:
The summer school is intended to foster reflection on economic models of rational as well as bounded or irrational decision, focusing on their explanatory power as well as normative/policy implications. The status and interpretation of the parameters and variables of these models will also be a key issue: Are psychologistic interpretations of preferences and beliefs, for example, justified by experimental data? Or have traditional instrumentalist and behaviourist interpretations been unchallenged by the emergence of behavioural and experimental economics?

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS "GUIDO STAMPACCHIA" — 71st Workshop: ADVANCES IN NONSMOOTH ANALYSIS AND OPTIMIZATION
06 Jul 2019 - 01 Jul 2019 • Erice, Sicily, Italy
Abstract:
The aim of the Workshop is to review and discuss recent developments of the theory of Nonsmooth Analysis and Optimization and to provide a forum for fruitful interaction in closely related areas. Nonsmooth problems appear in many fields of applications, such as data mining, image denoising, energy management, optimal control, neural network training, economics and computational chemistry and physics. Motivated by these applications Nonsmooth Analysis has had a considerable impulse that allowed the development of sophisticated methodologies for solving challenging related problems.

Lake Como School on Advances in Complex Systems: from Ecology to Economics
22 Jul 2019 - 26 Jul 2019 • Como, Italy
Abstract:
This is the third school on Advances in Complex Systems. The first edition of the school took place in the summer of 2015 and the second edition in the summer of 2017. The scope of the school series is to present recent advances in complex systems discussing applications of statistical mechanics of non-equilibrium and disordered systems, theories of complex networks and other stochastic systems to different topics in materials science, social sciences, biology and biomedical research. The broad choice of interdisciplinary topics is designed to expose the students to some of the multiple facets of complex systems theory. The 2019 edition of the school will focus on inderdisciplinary and quantitative approaches that span from ecology to economics. The school is open to 40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working in complex systems and related fields.

Mediterranean School on complex networks
31 Aug 2019 - 06 Sep 2019 • Salina, Sicily, Italy
Abstract:
In the last decade, network theory has been revealed to be a perfect instrument to model the structure of complex systems and the dynamical process they are involved into. The wide variety of applications to social sciences, technological networks, biology, transportation and economic, to cite just only some of them, showed that network theory is suitable to provide new insights into many problems. Given the success of the Fifth Edition in 2018 of the Mediterranean School of Complex Networks, we call for applications to the Sixth Edition in 2019.
