XIII Tonale Winter School on Cosmology
09 Dec 2019 - 13 Dec 2019 • Tonale, Italy
The School will cover topics relevant to theoretical and observational cosmology. The aim is to bring together observation and theory: "Theory for Observers & Observations for Theorists". The School is addressed to advanced masters students, graduate students enrolled in a PhD program, and postdocs. The School takes place in the ski resort Passo del Tonale (Italy) 9-13 December 2019. A limited amount of financial help to attend the School is available (see registration page).
Neutrino Cosmology, Non-linear perturbation theory, Testing dark energy with current and future observations, CMB polarisation and spectral distortions.
1st Padova International School of Physics of the Universe: Multi Messenger Astrophysics
14 Jan 2020 - 23 Jan 2020 • Asiago, Italy
Department of Physics and Astronomy (DFA) of the University of Padova
This first edition focuses on Multi-Messenger Astrophysics. The past four years were marked by huge advancements in this field, with countless invaluable results such as the detection of first gravitational waves, also in correspondence with photons, as well as the simultaneous observation of photons with a 300 TeV neutrino from an active galaxy. The foundation of high energy astroparticle physics are shaken and new theoretical buildings are raised. This calls for additional focused experimental efforts, with careful planning of multi-wavelenght and multi-experiments coordinated observation, especially when pointing telescopes with limited field of view are involved. This school teaches the cosmology and particle physics background needed to seriouslyapproach multi-messenger astrophysics. It includes key lectures, plus a series of topical lectures and seminars. Exercises will be organized throughout the school on all topics. Hands-on will be organized on a selection of codes. The school will be closed with a final exam for self-evaluation.
Winter Braids X: School on braids and low-dimensional topology,
17 Feb 2020 - 21 Feb 2020 • Pisa, Italy
The school is devoted to braids and their different applications and aspects. This tenth edition of Winter Braids is supported by the Centro De Giorgi, GDR Tresses, GDR Singularités, and ANR LISA. Besides the main lectures, there will be short talks and a poster session devoted to student presentations (not necessarily focused on braids or their generalizations).
FNHP2020 — International Doctorate School in Nuclear Physics “Frontiers in Nuclear and Hadronic Physics 2020"
24 Feb 2020 - 06 Mar 2020 • Florence, Italy
Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics
The school is primarily addressed to Ph.D. students in Theoretical Nuclear and Hadron Physics. Participation of experimentalists and post-docs is also encouraged. The 2020 edition will be devoted to the strong interaction at finite temperature and density and it will provide a pedagogical introduction to the basic concepts and tools needed for carrying cutting edge research in Hot QCD matter, high energy QCD, Quark-Gluon Plasma probes and properties, ultra-relativistic nuclear collisions (pA, AA), Relativistic hydrodynamics, QCD phase diagram at finite temperature and chemical potential with applications to Neutron Stars physics and multi-messenger astrophysics.
