International Expert Conference “Russo-Ukrainian War 2022-2023. Genesis, Causes, Course and Effects”
15 Jun 2023 - 16 Jun 2023 • Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Poland
Organizer:
Józef Gołuchowski University of Applied Sciences
Abstract:
Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2022 started the next stage of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which had been ongoing since 2014. The full-scale war, which has been going on for almost a year, has not only had a fundamental impact on the fate of Ukraine and Russia, but has also become a catalyst for profound changes in geopolitics, international relations and international economics. As a result of this war, a new security system will probably be formed, which will be different from the security system currently in operation. This conflict, which was unimaginable a dozen or so years ago, the largest conflict on the European continent since the end of World War II, will fundamentally affect the perception of many areas of functioning of modern states and societies, from military doctrines to international law. There is no doubt that various aspects of the ongoing war will become the subject of studies and analyses that will examine the circumstances of this conflict many years after its end.

The organizers propose to concentrate the conference discourse around the following six thematic panels: Political panel, Military panel, Economic panel, Medical panel, Legal panel, Social panel.

CFP — Displacement and Diaspora: Humber@TIFA 2023 Interdisciplinary Academic Conference
29 Sep 2023 - 30 Sep 2023 • Toronto, Canada
Organizer:
Humber College, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Abstract:
This conference seeks to explore displacement and the concept of diaspora through an interdisciplinary lens. Whether due to war, colonialism, or environmental deterioration, we are seeking analyses of the causes of displacement, and we want to hear stories from and about the diaspora. Whether it be studies of diasporic literature, analyses of environmentally-influenced migration, or glimpses into what it means to be part of a digital diaspora, we are seeking to have our understanding of the terms diaspora and displacement challenged and reshaped. Please see our website for more information and a list of potential themes and topics.
