Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning (QTML) is an annual international conference focusing on the interdisciplinary field of quantum technology and machine learning. The goal of the conference is to gather leading academic researchers and industry players to interact through a series of scientific talks focussed on the interplay between machine learning and quantum physics.

Siam Quantum Science and Technology (SQST-2024) will be Thailand’s first international conference focused on quantum science and technology research. This event reflects the country’s growing quantum-research community and the government’s commitment to advancing this frontier science. The conference aims to bring together researchers from Thailand and around the world, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and inspiring young scientists in the field. The 4-day event, held in the first week of December, will feature invited talks, contributed talks, and poster sessions selected from submitted abstracts.

This includes in particular the study of non-local games, quantum automorphism groups, and the resolution of Connes’ Embedding problem announced by Ji, Natarajan, Vidick, Wright and Yuen in 2020. The focus of this workshop is the state of the art in this highly active area, covering the latest developments and potential future directions.

The generation of macroscopic quantum superpositions of massive objects have fascinated scientists since Schrodinger but scientific developments now promise that such superpositions may become possible in the very near future. This meeting will focus on the science of macroscopic quantum superpositions - or more commonly known as Schrodinger Cats. In the 1930s Erwin Schrodinger made a thought experiment to test the boundaries of quantum mechanics. He asked if it could be possible, not only in principle, but also in practice, to make a quantum superposition of a large-massive object (in his case a cat), in two very different positions. As far as we know - this should be possible - but extremely challenging experimentally. If one can even achieve this for nanometer (or larger), sized particles one opens the possibility of tackling many fundamental questions e.g. how does quantum interact with gravity, is there some other addition to quantum mechanics which prevents the formation of such large-massive quantum superpositions? Can such massive superpositions be used for ultrasensitive sensors. This meeting will bring experimentalists and theorists together to discuss recent science (experiment and theory), towards generating such quantum superpositions.

Under the umbrella of quantum information theory, quantum-relevant algorithms have been proposed. In some cases, their relevance is due to the reduction of the order of complexity with respect to solutions in the classical world. In other cases, the relevance is due to the emergence of innovative solutions, such as obtaining more accurate predictions with less trained neural networks. The entry into the NISQ era with the development of the first quantum computers and simulators now makes it possible to test such algorithms on real computers. Quantum communication (QComm) provides a secure quantum information transfer across distant locations. Utilizing quantum key distribution (QKD), it surpasses classical encryption vulnerabilities to future quantum computing. Aimed at establishing a quantum internet, QComm enhances quantum-computing power through parallel and blind quantum computing. While short-distance quantum transmission is feasible, challenges remain for longer distances. The QComm value chain, comprising components, hardware, and software, also includes quantum-network operations and services. Limited for now, network operators maintain large-scale quantum networks, while various companies provide advice on QComm's technological and business aspects. The industry continues to evolve with the maturation of QComm hardware.
