The II International Advanced Study Conference CM LTP 2021 is intended to be a platform for young and experienced scientists in the field of experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics to share their knowledges, to exchange new information and ideas, and to find collaborators and co-projects. The previous conference CM LTP 2020 was held online by necessity of COVID-19. We hope that CM LTP 2021 will return to the classic format of live meetings and discussions. However, in the case of quarantine restrictions on the conference dates, CM LTP 2021 will be held in mixed format or online. Anyway each participant will have the opportunity to present their results to the scientific community. Hope to see you soon at CM LTP 2021!

The CMQM 2021 conference will be a forum for the wider UK Condensed Matter Physics community as part of the annual CMQM series. The conference will cover topics of current and general importance in condensed mater physics ranging from Superconductivity to Magnetism, from Non-equilibrium physics to Topological Materials, and from Surface physics to Semiconductors. The conference will be held as a hybrid event with local and remote participants and presentations. The local meeting at the University of Bristol will support remote and local contributions and will be streamed for online participants. The conference will host plenary talks, parallel sessions, and scientific posters as well as industry exhibitions.

Entangled Quantum States of Matter: Classification, Creation, Manipulation, Detection

This conference will explore many aspects of entangled quantum states of matter, with an eye towards their eventual experimental realization. These include non-Fermi liquids, symmetry-protected topological states, and topologically-ordered quantum matter such as gapped and gapless quantum spin liquids. Some of these states harbor nontrivial boundary or edge modes which will also be highlighted. Different topics will be covered including: the classification of entangled topological states which provide a roadmap of what is possible; investigations on how to engineer models built with realistic ingredients guided by theoretical explorations of their phase diagrams; and proposals for the right observables to detect and manipulate these states which can bring them closer from an abstract idea to reality. This conference will bring together experts on many aspects of highly-entangled quantum matter and help connect experts on mathematical aspects of classification and those with numerical expertise that provide information on phase diagrams with experimentalists striving to engineer these states in the lab.

Résumé:
A virtual conference will have some advantages over an in-person conference. We will work to maximize the benefits of the virtual format. The conference will include invited oral talks by video-conference (in a format similar to IPAC 2020 and Linac 2020), and several virtual reality poster sessions (in a format similar to the 2020 Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics Conference hosted by Fermilab). With the need to accommodate different time zones, the sessions will be limited to 4 hours per day (time zone info below). A session for “virtual lab tours” is considered at the end of the conference, with the possibility for participants to learn about their choice of several labs around the world. Best student poster prize and best young researcher presentation prize are also planned. In addition, a tutorial program by video-conference is planned in the week preceding the conference.

FQMT'21 — Frontiers of Quantum and Mesoscopic Thermodynamics 2021

The main goal of the conference is to contribute to a better understanding of the behavior of quantum systems out of equilibrium. To reach this aim we also need to improve our knowledge of systems in equilibrium and steady state situations. The conference will thus address foundations of quantum physics, quantum many body physics, statistical physics, and thermodynamics relying on the theoretical and experimental methods of condensed matter physics and quantum optics. The systems considered will be mainly on the order of mesoscopic (nanoscale) size, and include those of both natural and artificial origin. Special attention will be given to non-equilibrium quantum systems, physics of quantum information and manifestation of quantum effects in biological systems. Subjects from astrophysics, gravitation or cosmology related to the above scope will also be included.

CCPQ Windsor2021 — 8th workshop on Dynamics of Complex Quantum Systems

Résumé:
This workshop on the "Complex Quantum Systems: a quantum computing perspective" is to be held at Cumberland Lodge, 26th - 29th July 2021. Its aim is to bring together both experimentalists and theorists from across the UK and Europe working on realising, simulating and modelling complex quantum systems across atomic, molecular and condensed matter physics. The major focus will be on new mathematical and computational methods, the discussion of novel experimental result and the challenges of modelling them, and an over-arching theme of exploring how quantum computation can accelerate scientific computing in these domains.
Sujets:
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: cold atoms in optical lattices, quantum materials, superconductivity and superfluidity, nanomechanical oscillators in cavities, phase transitions, non-equilibrium dynamics, coherence and entanglement, environment engineering for small scale quantum technologies, novel architectures for quantum simulations and quantum computation. To complement this physics we also expect a wide variety of numerical methodologies, such as tensor network theory, dynamical mean-field theory, quantum Monte Carlo and electronic structure calculations to be represented. Discussion of potential near-future acceleration of these techniques using hybrid classical-quantum computational approaches will be a highlight of the workshop.

The Quantum Optics conference is the tenth in the series that have been organized every four years since 1985. It will be held in Toruń (Poland) at the Hotel Bulwar, 5-11 September 2021. One of its central aims is to bring together researchers from various sub-fields of quantum optics to offer a broad overview of current developments in this exciting domain. In addition to invited talks we also plan some number of contributed talks and a poster session. Quantum Optics X will also be a satellite meeting of the BEC 2021 conference that will take place in Sant Feliu, Spain, 11-17 September 2021.

Autumn School on Correlated Electrons: Simulating Correlations with Computers

The combinatorial growth of the Hilbert space makes the many-electron problem a grand challenge. Progress relies on the development of non-perturbative methods, based on either wavefunctions or self energies. This made, in recent years, calculations for strongly-correlated materials a reality. These simulations draw their power from three sources: theoretical advances, algorithmic developments and the raw power of massively parallel supercomputers. Turning to quantum hardware could give quantum materials science the ultimate boost. Before quantum parallelism can be exploited, however, many questions, algorithmic and engineering, need to be addressed. The school will provide students with an overview of the state-of-the-art of many-body simulations and the promises of quantum computers. After introducing the basic modeling techniques and the concept of entanglement in correlated states, lectures will turn to methods that do not rely on wavefunctions, comparing density functional theory, the GW method and dynamical mean-field theory. Advanced lectures will broaden the discussion, addressing topics from the Luttinger-Ward functional to non-equilibrium Green functions. As a glimpse of future possibilities, the basics of quantum computing and its possible uses in materials simulations will be explained. The goal of the school is to introduce advanced graduate students and up to the full range of modern approaches for the realistic simulations of strongly correlated materials with computers.
