IDEU24 — Reuters Events: Industrial Decarbonisation Europe 2024
22 May 2024 - 23 May 2024 • Amsterdam, Netherlands
Organizer:
Reuters Events
Abstract:
The Next Frontier of Industrial Scale Net-Zero Action

The industrial sector represents the next frontier of climate action. With regulatory, corporate, and industrial sectors aligned in ambition, the decarbonization of the hard-to-abate sectors represents both a critical challenge and an unparalleled business opportunity.

As the birthplace of the energy transition, Europe must now has the opportunity to lead the next frontier of decarbonisation. How can companies adopt a holistic approach, re-frame the transition opportunity, and capitalize on the windfall investments on offer?

New alliance must be formed and leaders from across the hard-to-abate sectors must stand together to overcome path dependencies and restructure the European industrial landscape. Reuters Events: Industrial Decarbonisation Europe (22 -23 May, Amsterdam) convenes metals and mining, transportation and logistics, energy and fuels, and construction executives to catalyse this change and lead the transformation shift required to deliver a decarbonized industry.

Over the two days, we’ll explore roadmaps to fast-track the commercialization of next-gen climate technology, we’ll drive data, reporting and regulatory standardization and, together, engender a collaborative era of industrial-scale net zero action.

Dagstuhl-Seminar — Dynamic Traffic Models in Transportation Science
07 Jul 2024 - 12 Jul 2024 • Schloss Dagstuhl, Wadern, Germany
Organizer:
Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz-Zentrum für Informatik
Abstract:
Traffic assignment models are crucial for traffic planners to be able to predict traffic distributions, especially, in light of possible changes of the infrastructure, e.g., road constructions, traffic light controls, etc. There is a trend in the transportation community (science as well as industry) to base such predictions on complex computer-based simulations that are capable of resolving many elements of a real transportation system. Moreover, cities worldwide, driven by critical sustainability goals, are developing digital twins of their transportation networks to inform the design and the operations of these intricate networks. On the other hand, the theory of dynamic traffic assignments in terms of equilibrium existence, computability and efficiency, has not matured to the point matching the model complexity inherent in simulations. This Dagstuhl Seminar, which is the fourth in a row on this topic, aims at bringing together leading scientists in the areas traffic simulations, algorithmic game theory (AGT), and dynamic traffic assignment (DTA), as well as applied researches from industry.
