Complex dynamics concerns the iteration of analytic functions of one complex variable, an area of research established by Fatou and Julia towards the beginning of the last century, with Fatou’s seminal paper on the iteration of transcendental functions published in Acta Mathematica in 1926. This is now a highly active area of research with rapidly growing interactions with several other areas of mathematics. This workshop provides an opportunity to explore and celebrate the legacy of the last hundred years, and to identify the topics and interactions of most interest as we move into the next hundred years.

The workshop aims to advance the mathematical design and analysis of wave propagation in metamaterials and complex media for a wide variety of applications of major importance for industry and society. It will focus on two outstanding and interconnected themes of multiple wave scattering identified during the parent programme and which have rapidly progressed since: (i) heterogeneous materials with varying degrees of order/disorder, and (ii) locally resonant materials, with applications in water-wave energy harvesting, electromagnetics/optics, acoustics/elastic waves etc.

The main goal of this Workshop is to advance our understanding of metastability, critical behaviour, and long transients in models of Earth system to substantially improve our ability to anticipate critical behaviour. The topic covers a diverse spectrum of research disciplines: applied mathematics, data science, theoretical and statistical physics, complexity theory, climate science, paeloclimatology, and mathematical/theoretical ecology. Therefore, we will welcome diverse participants ranging from theoreticians to numerical modellers, and to experts in observations, experiments, data collection and postprocessing. We will focus on the nascent approaches and theories, and will explore the interdisciplinary aspects of the problem. We will also relate modelling the current global situation the Earth’s crises in the past, where changes in the climatic conditions or in its dominant patterns of variability caused mass extinction events. The workshop will consist of a set of insightful talks followed by joint discussions.

Many of the fundamental concepts and problems in complexity theory originated at least partially in mathematical logic. The power of various feasible computational models appears to be linked with the strength of weak formal theories, and understanding the strength of formal theories may be useful --- if not key --- to resolving some of the open conjectures about the power of feasible computation. The workshop will be devoted to research on logical facets of complexity theory, especially the interplay between formal logical theories and computational complexity.

This workshop will focus on a circle of problems lying at the interface between harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory, including the Kakeya and Restriction Conjectures, the Falconer distance problem and projection theory. Underlying all these questions are combinatorial incidence problems, concerning intersection patterns between geometric objects such as thin tubes and annuli. The workshop will bring together experts from a range of backgrounds to investigate these deep and important interdisciplinary problems.

This workshop will focus on minimal regularity boundary value problems connected with uniform rectifiability, harmonic type measures, and Kato square function estimates. It will bring together experts from elliptic and parabolic PDEs with those from geometric measure theory to drive progress on characterisations of solvability beyond symmetric structures.
