Advanced Photonics Congress
24 Jul 2022 - 28 Jul 2022 • Maastricht – hybrid, Netherlands
Organizer:
Optica
Abstract:
The Advanced Photonics Congress is a broad-spectrum, in-depth event comprised of five topical meetings that primarily cover the latest advancements in optical materials, optical signal processing, optical communications and integrated optics. One important topic intersects many of the topical meetings in the congress: the building blocks of quantum science and engineering that will provide for future quantum information processing and quantum-enabled fiber optic networks. Another hot topic is artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML): how they are used in optical design and optical networks, including how photonics can help implement and boost performance of machine-learning techniques. Other major topics include 5G, switching, free-space communications and terahertz technologies.

PVLED — Optical Devices and Materials for Solar Energy and Solid-state Lighting
24 Jul 2022 - 28 Jul 2022 • Maastricht – hybrid, Netherlands
Organizer:
Optica
Abstract:
The meeting covers the latest developments in optics, photonics and advanced materials for the next generation of photovoltaic (PV) solar cells and light emitting diodes (LEDs). This includes all aspects of novel optical materials, nanostructures and devices; ranging from surface coatings, textures and diffraction gratings to topics such as plasmonics, nanowires, quantum dots for application in solar cells and LEDs - both conventional and emerging types alike. It also explores the range of optical elements for collecting, guiding, concentrating, coupling, trapping, transforming and absorbing sunlight – particularly for concentrating solar power (CSP). As optical components typically constitute the largest fraction of cost of such systems, the scope includes research devoted to improving all optical aspects of solar systems to enhance the performance, such as reducing levelized costs and maximizing long-term reliability.

NETWORKS 2022 — Photonic Networks and Devices
24 Jul 2022 - 28 Jul 2022 • Maastricht – hybrid, Netherlands
Organizer:
Optica
Abstract:
NETWORKS brings together researchers and engineers from various communities that intersect in today's applications that require photonic networks. The new applications and network architectures will both drive and utilize innovations in optical transmission and photonic devices. Growing demands for bandwidth, flexibility, programmability, resilience, security, low cost, high integration, high functionality, low power consumption, and small footprint require novel solutions in photonic networks and devices. New management paradigms in the framework of software-defined networking are needed for efficient and dynamic programmability of virtualized network resources. NETWORKS focuses on fostering research that supports the future scaling and performance requirements of emerging applications, including spectrally and spatially multiplexed systems, data centers and data-center interconnections, cloud infrastructure, high-performance computing, and content delivery.
