The goal of the school is to provide to PhD students and young researchers a global overview of the complete nuclear data cycle, starting from the definition of the nuclear data, going through the definition of priorities and target accuracies, needs and conduction of new experiments, experimental data analysis, evaluation of the disseminated nuclear data and ending with the validation with integral experiments. Experts in the different topics will guide the students through this exciting field through a series of theory seminars and hands-on lectures. In this way, students will learn the relevant theoretical concepts and be able run remote calculations such as sensitivity analyses, perform virtual cross section measurements and data analyses and data validations based on integral experiments.

At the cusp of the LHC restarting data-taking in 2022, the workshop aims to bring together experts from experimental and theory communities to plan and prepare for the path ahead. This includes development of theory models to better control systematics in the experimental analyses, common HEP software tools for large-scale fits and improvements in lattice QCD calculations. We expect valuable discussions on both conventional and exotic spectroscopy in the context of cross-experiment amplitude analyses and foster new collaborations between theory and experiment.

This conference will bring together a diverse set of scientists interested in the broad topic of few-body physics, providing a snapshot of the current status of few-body physics near unitarity, where the two-body scattering length is the largest length scale in the problem. Successes and open challenges in the area of atomic and nuclear physics, which are--despite the vastly different length and energy scales--intimately linked through, e.g., the three-body Efimov effect, will be highlighted. A major objective is to provide a platform for cross-fertilization between theory and experiment as well as between different research areas (such as nuclear, atomic, molecular, condensed matter, high-energy, and mathematical physics), with universality and its implied organizing principles as a unifying connection.

The nineteenth installment of the Exotic Beam Summer School (EBSS2022) will be hosted by the Nuclear Science Laboratory of the University of Notre Dame in Summer 2022. The summer school will introduce students and young researchers to various facets of the science of exotic nuclei including nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental symmetries, and the application of nuclear science and technology. The format of the school is unique. In the mornings, students will attend lectures from leading researchers in the field of nuclear physics with exotic beams. Lectures will focus on theoretical, experimental, technical and applied topics. In the afternoons, students will participate in hands-on activities in which they directly apply the material they learned in the lectures. These activities will make use of a suite of experimental equipment of the University of Notre Dame’s Nuclear Science Laboratory, including the radioactive ion beam facility TwinSol, and our three on-site electrostatic accelerators. In addition to the lectures and activities, the students will present their own research work during poster sessions.

Radioactive nuclei play a significant role in many current astrophysical pursuits, from the origin of the elements to the driving of emissions from supernovae (56Ni) and kilonovae (r-process radioactivity). Radioactive nuclei are crucial for direct studies of galactic enrichment (7Be, 26Al, 44Ti, 60Fe, 99Tc, 244Pu) and stellar explosions (56Ni, 44Ti). Stars and their explosions, galaxies and their evolving interstellar medium, and the origin of the solar system are among the targeted astrophysical objects. Stardust, meteorites, ocean floor deposits, cosmic-rays, and gamma-ray spectroscopy provide a rich variety of astronomy to exploit the inherent power of radioactivity. Investigation tools range from numerical models, astronomical instrumentation, and laboratory experiments to derive material compositions and nuclear reaction rates. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers from all these different fields to promote interaction through the common ground of radioactivity.

The Torino Workshops series started in Torino in 1995. Since then, 12 workshops have been held by various institutions around the world. Traditionally, the Torino Workshop focuses on the physics of asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars and many related topics: stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, observations (photometry, spectrometry, and asteroseismology), stellar winds, dust and presolar grain formation, galactic chemical evolution, theoretical and experimental nuclear astrophysics. The workshop will bring together experts, and friends, involved in these research fields to identify current key scientific questions and the possible ways to address them by interdisciplinary approaches. This meeting edition will celebrate Prof. Maurizio M. Busso on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Maurizio is among the founders of the Torino Workshop and during his career he has given important contributions to the study of AGB stars and related fields covered in the workshop.

It is our purpose to foster an informative and exciting workshop and keep the informal spirit of lively discussions that represents the true success of these meetings.

Zusammenfassung:
Despite the importance of beam facilities, detectors and elaborated data analysis, the target is one of the indispensable components in scientific experiments aimed to investigate nuclear reactions. Targets play also an important role for the performance of large research facilities for applied and basic research, for instance spallation neutron sources. Correspondingly, there is a strong influence of the target quality on the quality of the final experimental result. The focus of this conference series is the research and development of techniques for the production and characterization of targets and target-related material for a broad range of applications. Performed every second year, the conference is aimed to bring together target makers from all over the world to report about newest developments, share their knowledge, build up synergies for efficient use of the available resources and foster their networks.
