Advances and Challenges in Nuclear Fission and Quasi-Fission for the SuperHeavy Elements

Zusammenfassung:
The main goal of the Symposium is to discuss the state of the art of our present knowledge of nuclear processes such as fission and quasifission in the region of the very heavy and superheavy nuclei and to identify possible physics cases to be explored with the two new facilities under development, the Super Heavy Element (SHE) factory in Dubna (Russia) and Selective Production of Exotic Species (SPES) in Legnaro (Italy). These two facilities can play an extremely important and unique role in accessing, with different capabilities, unexplored regions of the nuclear chart, in particular the unknown neutron rich side. This area of research is particularly relevant because is of interest for the nucleosynthesis of the elements heavier that iron (r-process) and for the understanding of the existence and persistence of the shell closures. The latter are the main ingredients for the predicted survival of superheavy elements against fission.

The Symposium is also intended as a platform for intensive and detailed discussions, and for gathering proposals regarding experimental programs during the operation of new facilities.

Pre-PAC Workshop for the AGATA physics campaign at LNL

Zusammenfassung:
The aim of the workshop is to assist the spokespersons in putting the strongest cases for their proposals forward through a discussion of the physics to be investigated, and to assess the feasibility of the experiments they intend to propose. This includes all experiments planning to use stable beams from the Tandem-ALPI-PIAVE complex for studies involving AGATA in a possible combination with PRISMA and/or ancillary detectors that are compatible with PRISMA. All such proposals will have to be discussed at this workshop before being submitted to the LNL PAC. This is to ascertain feasibility and to avoid overlaps.

TW2022 — THe 13th Torino Workshop on AGB stars

The Torino Workshops series started in Torino in 1995. Since then, 12 workshops have been held by various institutions around the world. Traditionally, the Torino Workshop focuses on the physics of asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars and many related topics: stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, observations (photometry, spectrometry, and asteroseismology), stellar winds, dust and presolar grain formation, galactic chemical evolution, theoretical and experimental nuclear astrophysics. The workshop will bring together experts, and friends, involved in these research fields to identify current key scientific questions and the possible ways to address them by interdisciplinary approaches. This meeting edition will celebrate Prof. Maurizio M. Busso on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Maurizio is among the founders of the Torino Workshop and during his career he has given important contributions to the study of AGB stars and related fields covered in the workshop.
