Benasque Science Center

This NanoSpace Training School on Advanced Characterization of Carbon Materials is organized by the COST Action NanoSpace (CA21126). The COST NanoSpace Advanced Characterization of Carbon Materials Training School aims to provide a broad and comprehensive overview of these (nano)materials, offering a scientific foundation to understand the behavior of the materials and the experimental and theoretical characterization techniques, as well as their potential applications in astrochemistry. The science of (nano-)carbon materials (nanotubes, graphene, nanodiamonds, fullerenes, nanoporous structures, cyclic nanotube rings (CPPs), and ribbons) has recently seen significant advances. A critical aspect is to have access to their atomic structure, and composition, as well as their physical and chemical properties. The Winter School in Benasque (Aragon, Spain) will offer specialized knowledge to COST NanoSpace participants (mainly PhD students, and young researchers), systematically addressing the description of (nano)materials and the principal and advanced methods and techniques for their characterization and study, with a special emphasis on their potential applications in astrochemistry.

The goal of the ISyDMA conference series is to provide an innovative platform for key researchers, and scientists from all over the world to exchange ideas and hold wide-ranging discussions on recent developments in dielectric materials and their new and emerging applications. It is addressed to the materials scientists, physicists, chemists, biologists, and electrical engineers engaged in fundamental and applied research or technical investigations on such materials. The aim of the ISyDMA meeting is to provide an international forum for the discussion of current research on high k-dielectric, electrical insulation, dielectric phenomena, and topics related to emerging applications, including applications in biomedical technologies, energy harvesting, materials for critical infrastructure, and smart materials.

The scope of this symposium ranges across the broad spectrum of nanotechnology and nanoscience, including, but not limited to: / Biological and bioinspired structures: research on materials and phenomena in biological systems, basic research on the properties of biological nanostructures, translational biomimetic approaches and application of bioinspired technology. / Composition/structure/-property correlations: atomic-, nano-, and micro-scale materials design, multi-scale modeling for structure evolution, preparation and processing of nanostructured materials, characterization techniques for nanostructures, mechanical behavior and functional performance evaluation method. / Nanomaterials and their device applications: design of nanomaterials, nanodevice development, and their applications, including bio/chemical sensing and therapy. / Surface-engineered nanoparticles for enhancing enzyme activity: development of nanomaterials that bind to and dynamically tune enzyme activity for various applications.
