New Physics from Galaxy Clustering at GGI
25 aou 2025 - 03 nov 2025 • Firenze , Italie
Organisateur:
Galileo Galilei Institute
Résumé:
This workshop aims at catalyzing the joint efforts of particle physicists and cosmologists towards the exploration of new physics with large cosmological datasets. The workshop is structured to encompass three thematic weeks dedicated to model building and testing fundamental physics in cosmology, developing novel theoretical tools to search for new physics in cosmological observables, and discussing the potential of next generation experiments to probe the plethora of new physics signals. A symposium with summary talks will conclude the workshop. A concurrent school is planned, with the aim of addressing the evolving landscape of this new field and helping participants catch up with recent developments and novel tools. An important feature of the workshop is a designated focus week, devoted to the initiation of a much-needed community white paper, summarizing the new and well-motivated particle physics models that can be tested in cosmology in the light of upcoming data and planned future experiments. The workshop nicely aligns with the expected data releases from DESI and Euclid.

TDB Project Course – Ninth Edition: Thermodynamic Data Collection and Assessment
20 sep 2025 • New Orleans, LA, États-Unis
Résumé:
Home Workshop TDB Project Course – Ninth Edition: Thermodynamic Data Collection and Assessment Register for the event About the course The ninth edition of the annual NEA Thermochemical Database (TDB) Project course on the topic of thermodynamic data collection and assessment will take place in person on the 20 September 2025 at Le Méridien, New Orleans, US, in conjunction with the 19th Conference on the Migration of Actinides and Fission Products in the Geosphere. The course is designed to familiarise scientists with current NEA TDB activities and standards, provide an overview of data collection and analysis techniques and work through some real system examples to demonstrate the critical evaluation and data assessment process. Retaining high scientific standards for the collection, interpretation, critical review and application of thermodynamic data is a key goal of the NEA TDB, and helps assure that a strong scientific basis for the safety case is maintained to support international nuclear waste management options.

Postgraduate/specialization course — Tribocorrosion : fundamentals and engineering applications
20 oct 2025 - 21 oct 2025 • TU Wien, Autriche
Résumé:
In many engineering situations materials surfaces are exposed to the combined attack by corrosion and abrasion or other mechanical loadings. The material transformation caused by a tribological contact in chemically reactive environments is known as tribocorrosion. Tribocorrosion is found in a great a new variety of engineering applications such as seals and bearings for hydrogen transportation, valves and pumps for chemicals, biomedical implants, power plants, geothermal and marine installations and many others. Tribocorrosion can not be predicted solely by considering the involved phenomena (corrosion and tribology) separately but requires an integrated approach. This course is intended to give to the participants (graduates, researchers and industrial professionals) a solid basic background in tribocorrosion. It covers the basic concepts of tribology, corrosion and tribocorrosion, the description of the experimental techniques and of the existing interpretation tools and prcatical cases illustrating how to apply the theoretical background into real practice. At the end of the course participants will have the tools to identify and to approach tribocorrosion problems.
