2019 ICU Bruges — International Congress on Ultrasonics
03 Sep 2019 - 06 Sep 2019 • Brugge, Belgium
Organizer:
The 2019 International Congress on Ultrasonics is organized and hosted by the International Congress on Ultrasonics (ICU) and the University of Leuven, Belgium.
Abstract:
The ICU Congresses aim to bring together professionals and experts from academia and industry in all disciplines of ultrasonics, covering fundamental science as well as applications in the field of engineering material characterization and quality inspection, chemical and biological US based monitoring, medical imaging and therapy, etc. The ICU meetings provide a valuable and unique opportunity for participants to exchange their achievements and experience in view of addressing present-day challenges as well as to enlarge their international contacts on the field.

Annual ISMA course — Modal Analysis, Theory and Practice
19 Sep 2019 - 20 Sep 2019 • Leuven , Belgium
Abstract:
This two day course on modal analysis is organised for the 44th time by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the KU Leuven. The course is set up as a general introduction with emphasis on data-acquisition and multi-channel modal testing. It is an intensive training course, where theoretical lectures are illustrated by numerous integrated demonstrations. A full scale multi-channel survey of a real life structure will be conducted and lectures on relevant industrial case studies are included. The mix of theory and practice gives the participants the opportunity to discuss theoretical and practical problems with experts in the field. The last part of the course touches on the practical use and applications of modal analysis ranging from trouble shooting to model updating.

Annual ISAAC course — Advanced Techniques in Applied and Numerical Acoustics
19 Sep 2019 - 20 Sep 2019 • Leuven , Belgium
Abstract:
The 2019 KU Leuven Course on Applied & Numerical Acoustics will take place in September 2019 in Leuven, Belgium. It is the 30th in a series of courses on experimental and numerical techniques in applied acoustics, organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the KU Leuven. This edition of the KU Leuven Applied Acoustics Course is set up as an extended overview of some recent techniques in applied acoustics with emphasis on applications in automotive and aerospace industry. This overview covers techniques ranging from active noise control to the use of boundary and finite element methods in acoustic problems and is intended to update the expertise of practising engineers and researchers. The overview is application oriented with emphasis on background principles and on practical use of the methods. The course will be illustrated with case studies and real life demonstrations of several experimental and numerical techniques.

USD2020 — 8th International Conference on Uncertainty in Structural Dynamics.
07 Sep 2020 - 09 Sep 2020 • Leuven , Belgium
Abstract:
Over the past decades, it is more and more acknowledged that including uncertainty in numerical analysis embodies a very useful and valuable application of the increasing capabilities of modern (high-performance) computer facilities, both in science and in industry. Non-deterministic methodologies enable the numerical simulation of uncertain or variable processes, providing information on ranges of possible behavior rather than unique predictions. This information can only increase the trustworthiness of the underlying analysis, and proves to be of great value in the virtual prototyping process that is becoming a standard in current design engineering practice.
