Following the tradition of the School, the 5th edition will provide training in the basic principles of magnetism and magnetics thorough a broad series of fundamental lectures, while offering the latest insights into up-to-date aspects of magnetism and applications of magnetic materials with lectures focusing on specific topics. To promote the dissemination of science, the School also includes an evening event of divulgation character. The School is addressed to Italian and foreigner graduate and PhD students, as well as to post-doc and young researchers.

The IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School is held annually during (northern hemisphere) summer holidays. The school is designed for graduate students studying magnetism and related areas. It consists of lectures by international experts and includes poster presentations by participating graduate students. The program covers fundamentals and advanced topics in magnetism. Support will be provided for approximately 85 students based on a competitive application. Awardees are provided with free room and board and are reimbursed for most of the cost of transportation to/from the school. Students from all parts of the world are accepted.

The 2020 School will have a special format to achieve this objective, sharing time between academic lectures and project work in small teams. The School will be an opportunity for young scientists and lecturers from various fields to meet, share their expertise and build a network.

The Conference will cover basic and applied aspects of magnetism and magnetic materials and will include oral and poster sessions, invited talks and symposia.
