816. WE-Heraeus-Seminar — Silicon Carbide: Classical and Quantum Technologies
28 jul 2024 - 31 jul 2024 • Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
Résumé:
Silicon carbide (SiC) is today’s leading third-generation semiconductor, and the first to demonstrate a light emitting diode. Its extraordinary thermo-electric properties made it the dominating semiconductor for high power electronics, such as electric mobility. Since more than ten years, the SiC industry continues growing at an annual rate of 30%, and more than 70% global market share is held by STMicroelectronics and Infineon. This makes silicon carbide one of the very few semiconductors in which Europe is competitive. The continued research on improving “classical” SiC material production and fabrication has propelled the creation of a new valorisation pathway: The emerging field of SiC “quantum” technologies. Especially in the last 5 - 10 years, colour centres in SiC have shown a disruptive potential across all relevant fields in quantum technologies. This seminar brings together the leading experts in SiC quantum and classical technologies, including partners from academia, RTOs, and industry.

QTech 2024 — Quantum Technology International Conference 2024
10 sep 2024 - 12 sep 2024 • Berlin, Allemagne
Résumé:
The growing ability to manipulate quantum systems is paving the way for a second quantum revolution and a number of initiatives worldwide have been formed to foster quantum technologies. These exciting novel applications are exploiting specific quantum properties which are not accessible with classical resources such as superposition and entanglement of individual quantum systems. The objective of the QTech conference, which will take place on September 10-12, 2024 in Berlin, is to present the latest developments of quantum technologies in the domains of quantum communication, computation, simulation, sensors and metrology, both in their implementation using various platforms from atoms and ions to solid states, superconducting circuits and optics, as well as in their conceptual and theoretical foundations.

DPG-Lehrerfortbildung — Geschichte der Quantenphysik / Quantenphysik im Alltag
21 oct 2024 - 25 oct 2024 • Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Allemagne

ML4QT — 2nd Workshop of Machine Learning for Quantum Technology
05 nov 2024 - 08 nov 2024 • Erlangen, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light
Résumé:
In the "2nd Workshop on Machine Learning for Quantum Technology" we aim to attract researchers interested in the use of classical ML/AI techniques to advance the development of quantum technologies in a broad sense. Some examples would be analyzing quantum measurements, estimating the parameters of quantum devices, discovering new quantum experimental setups, protocols, and feedback strategies, and generally improving aspects of quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum simulation. See the review paper here for more relevant topics. We will also cover some quantum machine learning topics and their interconnections with classical machine learning.

822. WE-Heraeus-Seminar — Chirality and Quantum Spin – a Critical Assessment
02 dec 2024 - 05 dec 2024 • Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
Résumé:
For electrons moving in chiral molecules, one spin projection is more likely to be transported through the structure than the other, despite that the chiral molecule is often diamagnetic. This is the chiral induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect. It is a quantum phenomenon that is based on chirality, spin-orbit coupling, particle-particle interaction, and compositeness. However, exactly how these aspects are brought together and result in the CISS effect is yet an enigma. This question, among several others, will be discussed in this seminar, with the aim to reach some clarification.
