Jean-Morlet Chair whole semester on Nonlinear PDEs in Fluid Dynamics
01 jan 2022 - 30 jui 2022 • CIRM Luminy, Marseille, France
Résumé:
The field of nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in Fluid Dynamics has seen tremendous scientific activity in the last decade, due to the facts that the underlying governing equations have a very rich and complex structure and that many of these equations still lack basic understanding concerning global existence and uniqueness of smooth solutions. The PDEs modeling and describing fluid flows play an important role in various areas of mathematics, natural sciences and also engineering. This special semester at CIRM will focus on nonlinear PDEs arising in incompressible fluid dynamics, such as Euler- and Navier-Stokes equations, geophysical flows, liquid crystals and complex fluids, non-homogeneous fluids and critical spaces. The semester will feature an international conference, a large research school for young researchers, a thematic workshop, research in pairs events and a program of invitations open to early graduate researchers as well as more senior guests.

HERCULES 2022 European School
28 fév 2022 - 01 avr 2022 • Grenoble, France
Résumé:
HERCULES EUROPEAN SCHOOL is a five weeks course coordinated by the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The school provides training for students, postdoctoral and senior scientists from European and non-European universities and laboratories, in the field of Neutrons, X-ray Synchrotron Radiation, and Free Electron Laser for condensed matter studies (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Geosciences, Industrial applications). Neutron and X-ray science is integrated with complementary techniques like (but not only) optical and electron microscopy, NMR, optical and THz spectroscopy.

Les Houches School of Physics — Cloud Academy II
06 mar 2022 - 18 mar 2022 • Les Houches l’Ecole de Physique, France
Résumé:
Clouds and hazes form in nearly every type of planetary atmospheres. They fundamentally impact the atmospheric structure and spectra of exoplanets and even influence their habitability. Intensive observing efforts have generated an abundance of data on clouds and hazes in exoplanets but modeling expertise in the community has lagged. This school will focus on physical models for cloud and haze formation in planetary atmospheres in different radiation environments, and include reviews on exoplanet observations and laboratory studies.
