Baltic-German WE-Heraeus-Seminar — Quantum Sensors, Devices and Materials
15 mar 2026 - 18 mar 2026 • Bad Honnef, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
Résumé:
Active research collaboration between German and Latvian scientists currently spans a number of exciting research areas of quantum science and technology including single-electron nanoelectronics, novel 2D materials, quantum magnetometry with levitated, atomic, and colour - centre magnets, and single-photon emitters among others. This Workshop will bring together representatives of the diverse research communities with a goal of fostering cross-topic “fertilization” and strengthening and broadening the bi-national cooperation, as well as expanding international collaboration beyond the two nations, in particular to the Baltic scene on synergetic topics. The workshop, open to international participation beyond Baltics and Germany, will feature overview talks by top experts in the respective fields, contributed talks and posters, and plentiful opportunities for informal interactions in a beautiful setting of the Bad Honnef Physics Center.

Bad Honnef Physics School — Physics of Imaging: Holography, Ptychography, Tomography et al. & AI
05 jul 2026 - 10 jul 2026 • Bad Honnef, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
Résumé:
In this interdisciplinary field, at the cross-roads of experimental physics, signal processing, computational image processing, mathematics of inverse problems, this school focused on the fundamentals and the underlying concepts. And we aim at highlighting the interplay of physical encoding by experimental design and computational decoding by reconstruction algorithms.
Sujets:
The school is intended for Ph.D. students and advanced master students entering research in the fields of computational imaging, physical optics, and mathematics of inverse problems in imaging, which seek an interdisciplinary perspective right from the start. More advanced Ph.D. students and postdocs which are already practitioners in their special fields (e.g. X-ray imaging, electron and light holography, visible light ptychography, computational imaging and AI) but which want to broaden their expertise by educating themselves in related fields are equally included in the scope of the school.

O3DM — Optical 3D Metrology
18 nov 2026 - 20 nov 2026 • Braunschweig, Allemagne
Résumé:
Optical 3D Metrology (O3DM) is a series of conferences that build on the heritage of SPIE Videometrics (1991-2017) and Optical 3D Measurement Techniques (1989-2009). Renamed as Optical 3D Metrology (O3DM), the past editions were held in Strasbourg (France) in December 2019, in Wuerzburg (Germany) in December 2022 and Brescia (Italy) in 2024 under the umbrella of ISPRS. The 2026 edition will celebrate 35 years of optical metrology workshops!! and the primary theme of O3DM is the precise 3D measurement and accurate modelling from imaging and range sensors.

WE-Heraeus-Seminar — Ultrafast Science and Data of Electronic Processes: From Attosecond Time Scales to Intense X‐ray Interactions
26 jul 2027 - 30 jul 2027 • Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Allemagne
Organisateur:
Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
Résumé:
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2023, awarded for the generation of attosecond light pulses, showcasts the scientific success and the impact of the shortest flashes of light that can be generated. First pathfinder experiments were conducted throughout the last two decades, mostly based on the "traditional" attosecond-pulse generation method by high-order harmonic generation, now implemented in many research laboratories around the world. Since a few years, an orthogonal access to attosecond science is emerging at large-scale electron-accelerator facilities: Attosecond pulses at X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs). These new developments give rise to an entire new field: Nonlinear x-ray science and its applications in fundamental research. Ultrashort x-ray pulses offer a novel view on the time-dependent electronic structure of matter, by harnessing spectroscopic and structural imaging techniques. An emerging frontier in the field is acquiring, processing, and analysing the large data streams from a multitude of light-source parameters and ever more sophisticated detectors, delivering multi-dimensional data arrays from which quantitative and qualitatively new information needs to be extracted and interpreted, to ultimately extract information to observe physical processes on atomic length- and electronic timescales.
