Dedicated to advancing physics on a global scale, the IIP serves as a bridge between local researchers and the international scientific community. The synergy between Natal’s unique setting and the IIP’s dynamic academic environment provides an ideal venue for the first Quantum at the Dunes summer school and workshop. This event will bring together experts in Quantum Computing and Quantum Information, with a strong focus on practical challenges at the intersection of both fields.

Quantum Information Theory and Quantum Computing,    Courses and Events for Physics Students

This binational Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Seminar organized by ICTP-SAIFR will bring together primarily scientists from Brazil and Germany to discuss both the challenges and the prospects for quantum gases in spatial dimensions lower than three. Scientists from other parts of the world will also participate and provide a global perspective of recent developments. In addition to plenary sessions, where leading experts on quantum gases will present their latest work, the seminar will have contributed talks by some young participants and poster sessions to disseminate widely the research of all attendees.

The School-Workshop will represent Quantum Rings as a special class of modern high-tech materials structures at the nanoscale. We will deal with their formation by molecular beam epitaxy and droplet epitaxy of semiconductors, their topology-driven electronic, optical, and magnetic properties. Highly complex theoretical models will be discussed which have been developed to adequately explain the specific features of Quantum Rings. We will specially emphasize development of low-cost high-performance electronic, spintronic, magnetic, optoelectronic and information processing devices based on various doubly-connected structures.

Quantum thermodynamics emerged from the need to study thermodynamic processes at the quantum realm, where effects such as entanglement and coherence play a crucial role. The field has seen rapid progress, extending far beyond its foundational roots. In the past decade, it has attracted the attention of experimentalists, who to put to test the thermodynamic laws reformulated for quantum mechanical processes, measure thermodynamic quantities such as work, heat, and entropy, verify fluctuation theorems, and even showcase quantum heat engines. Today, quantum thermodynamics is a cornerstone of quantum sciences, essential to the development of disruptive quantum technologies, from sensors to quantum computers.
